2 hrs into the process of clearing my driveway, I took a break to pay hommage to our lord and savior.

The Best of Oppo
As a counter measure to some of the negative vibes floating around oppo today, I present to you some of the best Oppo:
I'm not a huge contributor, maybe a few replies during the week, a post here and there. Yet when I asked for help last week @MUSASHI66, who doesn't know me at all, went well out of his way to help me out and asked for nothing in return. A verifiable good guy, helping out a fellow oppo, done in "the spirit of oppo". Absolutley fantastic!
A well deserved and public thank you to @MUSASHI66 and a reminder that oppo is filled with good people and remains the best thing on the internet.
Dog for your time.

Thankful for Oppo
Just want to express my thanks to everyone here who help make Oppo awesome! No ads, no algorithms, no bots, no BS. Good people proving you can be good to one another on the interwebs. Cheers!

I Hate People
Picked up a new dent and a few nice scratches in the Saab today at the diy store today. Front passenger quarter panel and bumper. No note. No nothin.
The older I get the less faith I have in society at large.
Whatever. I try not to get too caught up in material stuff. I think I'm more pissed to be surrounded by assholes.
I hope your day's going better. Thanks for attending my pity-party. Angry car for your time.

Wife's DOTS - What are the odds?
My wife parked next to a fellow Volvo at the grocery store - as one does. It just so happenes that I had parked next to the same car, in the same parking lot, and also took a picture. (Forgive my wife's typo - they're constant)
Neat, interesting, whatever. BUT I was looking at the details of my picture, and it turns out that my picture was taken 4 years ago, ON THE EXACT SAME DATE! What are the odds? I'd say that is a BIG coincidence.

Saabobcat
Took the Saab on a road trip from Western NY to Western NC. Had a fantastic time driving Rt 9 to Black Mountain several times each day.
Here's a sample.
The car performed brilliantly for 1,700 miles, plus 200 today to pick up the dog from my parents.
Burying the lead - I saw a freaking Bobcat!
Definitely the coolest wild animal I've ever seen.
What's the coolest wild amimal you've ever seen Oppo? -
DITMILHG
In the Mother-In-Law's Husband's Garage. A 1950 Ford picke 'em up. Wasn't perfect, but very very nice. I'd guess he paid a pretty penny for it.

Addition by Subtraction - Unnecessary Car Mods
Added a new seat to my outdoor work area - inspired by @Sam-Blockhan
By removing one from the 850
Bonus - it gets me one step closer to a racecar

RE: Quick, stupid, light free humor - post yours -
@newjoekaz That's both hysterical and a great idea! I'd like to do something like that with a tool exchange.
I'll share from a book a received for xmas, without consent from the author.
The book is Stranger Planet (follow-up to Strange Planet) by Nathan W Pyle. I'm enjoying it. Happy New Years!

which allow those that want to wait to wait and those who don't to pay their way.
Is this how the "haves" think of the "have nots"? They WANT to wait? Wow

RE: Digital License plates - Useless new automotive tech (blatant The Autopian article spinoff)
@Urambo-Tauro said in Digital License plates - Useless new automotive tech (blatant The Autopian article spinoff):
@Albino-Kangaroo I know a guy who bought one of these plates for his Silverado. One of the features that he seemed most excited about is how he can report vehicle theft and get the plate immediately changed to read "STOLEN". Which I guess might be more of a concern for him than most drivers, considering that he frequently pulls trailers and equipment.
I'm not sure how that would help. Regular joes will assume it's just a vanity plate and pressumably those in a position to recover a stolen vehicle would have the plate number. Not to mention the fact that everyone knows when you steal a car you swap plates with a random car in a parking lot ASAP!

RE: Hooptie Bike Roll Call!
@AkioOhtori Hooptie bike owners unite! Glad you got the pug sorted. That Yokota looks to be in great shape - some fine steel came out of Japan in the 80s!
I'll add mine in solidarity - both with hooptie bikes and messy garages.

RE: Does anyone else drive more aggressively in slower cars?
@Wrong-Wheel-Drive Not just you. When I drive the 850, I wring the hell out of that NA I5. When I'm in the Saab (with a tune, so fast-ish) I have nothing to prove and tend to do more cruising.
The exception is the twisties. There, I like to push the Saab, whereas I stick closer to the speed limit in the Volvo.

RE: Best 50 cents I ever spent
@trivet Nice score!
My son had a Darth Vader one. I'm pretty sure when the alarm goes off, you smack the head to turn it off.

But, like, the good kind of weird. The Oppo kind of weird.
I'm honored.

@PowderHound Yep, that's pretty much what I thought.

@ForSweden If it had to happen, I'm glad she chose a fellow Volvo.
