We got hit with a monster storm last Tuesday. ( https://opposite-lock.com/topic/27315/anxiety-level-chernobyl) i was extra nervous as i'm (still) building my addition. I tried uploading some photos a couple days ago but i guess it didn;t work. The lack of internet has been frustrating, along with lack of power. I'm back in the office today and finally have internet access. I'm still waiting for the internet wires to be re-strung to my house. We ended up with stronger than expected winds with gusts around 80 mph. Around 4am tuesday there were some loud noises on top of the tarp smashing around. My daughter started screaming about a tree.
that sucker is about 3' across.
as it came down, it took out the top half of the telephone pole leaving us disconnected from the grid until around 8pm sunday night. A neighbor gave us a spare generator so we could keep the heat and fridge going. I'm going to have some cleanup to do.
the house made it though somehow without losing the in-progress roof. Even the tarp stayed attached. I'm very grateful for that. I dont know how it stayed. With the partially completed status and the high winds it should have all taken flight.

milestone: 100% framed
Last night I nailed in the last 2x4. This is a project I started a depressingly long time ago. I also had the roofing installed yesterday.
up next is building wrap then some plumbing and electrical so i can get insulated. On the second floor, the existing window is still in place to keep the heat inside the house. On the lower floor, there is only a doorway between the main portion of the house and the family room. and heat in the family room goes right up through the floor to the new bedroom. It gets cold over there so I've been hanging a blanket over the family room doorway to keep the main house warm. -
an update on $#!+
the school called back. There person who reviewed the video was quite appalled with what they saw. The bus was able to catch the event on camera but not the license plate. We do not have the plate number, however we do know the home address. they were happy to take that and said an officer will be making a visit.

all conversations lead to cars
talking to a client and inevitably he mentioned his garage so I was obligated to ask what was in it. Not disappointed.

Any idea what this means? I have a feeling it would be one hell of a trip listening to him. It looks like he has gone through quite a few signs.

RE: I found my dream house 🥰
that looks pretty nice. I'd have to do away with the spiral stair. It doesn't look as bad as the one at my mother-in-laws but they kind of suck for day to day use.
