@old-busted-hotness said in The Future of Oppo:

If I might make a suggestion:
I know hosting ain't free, so you're either going to have to have ads or ask for donations. My suggestion is tiered membership.

Jalopnik Gold is a long bandied model for those willing to take the next step. Commit their time and money to advance back in time to a place where less troubles existed to hold back enjoyment. @jminer has seemed happy to let everyone pour in the door as he keeps having to rush back out to find ways to seat and feed everyone. What fast becomes more important than dropping an envelope in the coffers at this stage is coordinating moves without interrupting the fun.

Level 1 for occasional users who don't want ads for dick pills and host their photos elsewhere, Level 2 for those who want to upload directly and use more of your server to do so.

Dick pills and autoplay ads are a concern you can free yourself of. Restricting uploads to the minimum will also be a forgotten concern in coming days. Tech scales in exactly the type of way that you wouldn't need to be concerned about how many cell photos you put on a 10TB drive at home.

In theory the dividing line should be freely crossed by all who wish to visit Oppo. Contributions should be a personal choice. Certain realities intrude if there isn't an overflowing amount of support. What a fiscal contribution adds is ability to refuse less advantageous outside offers of services. To be more selective and consider ourselves among the select. A trait that breeds not contempt or elitism, but prosperity and growth which allows reaching back into the heights of a mainstream outlet. In time, when enough rebuilding allows such grand designs to be pursued.

Keep a watch out for the glint in Matt's eye whenever his trademark rope is mentioned or shown on screen. You'll want to click through and watch this one full screen.

Key difference if ads are a fiscal necessity. They stand a much better chance of being for places like Rock Auto and other relevant commercial entities than something a family member looking over your shoulder would be offended by.

That would be so obscure it would pass itself off as a budget clothing store generic brand.

No way are you dragging me into that rabbit hole rats nest. What you need is similar to this (I did zero - 0 - Zilch) research or reading to see if that satisfies any of your sure to increase in complexity and disparity problems.

So basically an external powered USB-C hub with DP++ capability.

How much fun is a fat bike gonna be on cross country ski trails, packed snow, powder and general snow hoonage?

As much fun as you make it.

They are very tractor like and your legs need to provide the requisite torque. I'd rent one first. Then look for someone selling a used one now that they aren't trendy to be seen rolling around the neighborhood on in "product."

No, it was actually a promotional image for "Harry and the Hendersons"

Either way, I'm certainly not spending that sort of money for one of these.

This all comes on the heels of a multi-billion international suit against the cabal orchestrating consumer trade fraud in the tech sector. Price fixing, false reporting on and manipulation of stock levels, it just goes on and on to the point these execs should be doing time instead of shrugging off a weeks interest on the years of profit.

@Rusty-Vandura In the most polite and assuring manner I'm going to ask you to desist immediately. Go tend to your pet project in one of the multiple other conversations devoted, 'curated', and highly politicized through your acts of electioneering.

Thank you for your understanding in this and all other matters.

I just do not understand people. 4 generation old video cards are selling like mad for 9/10 of original price like 8-10 years ago. Now newly released low level card are going for the better part of a grand up from base MSRP of $400. This might be halfway entertaining if it wasn't so sad.

@shop-teacher I think what I’ll do is drill another hole to put a pad lock in. It seems like the simplest solution.

At that point why not circle back to my hinted at reinforced tie down points and make securing cargo an integrated solution. Since cargo is obviously going to be motorcycles and other toys.

@wrong-wheel-drive I completely understand. There really is no warming up on a downhill or cooling down at the end of a ride coming back up. Unless you're in great condition, or already adapted to the seasonal weather, it limits drive to head out the door.

I can tell by Highlander's recent posts the lack of travel and realization he's fast running out of enjoyably fresh things to do at home is making things tough out there too.
