So our 11th foster dog is the one that we are keeping.
"Foxy" was set to be adopted by a great candidate on Sunday at noon, but Sunday morning the adopter let us know that her HOA had breed restrictions, and that her homeowners insurance wouldn't cover a pit bull, so the adoption was off.
We had been saying that if it weren't for the adopter already being in place that we might keep the girl. Thus, much serious conversation on Sunday and now . . .
Mazy enters the pack!
We spent a lot of time on picking a name, but had some urgency as she needed to start serious training on various commands to avoid scaring people. My wife feels that this spelling is more intuitive than the traditional Maisy or Maisie. I went along because I preferred the name over close second Tessa. So Mazy and Enzo it is!
She brings out the best in #1 dog Enzo who otherwise has tolerated our foster dogs at best, and suffered through at worst. She is constantly happy, a good walker for the most part, and every person or dog is a friend she hasn't met yet. Which scares some people as she stares at them. And she is an epic snuggler.
So, how could we let this go?
BTW, shout out to State Farm homeowners insurance whose liability insurance does not screen risk based on breed.
And we decided that after a long period of bonding we would try fostering again, but we are at max capacity for permanent additions. We will also help at adoption events handling dogs, so we aren't done with rescue.
