But it would be criminal not to drop everything and give Ruby attention when she does this.
What happens when I give Ruby attention? Jealousy thy name is Cornbread.
No worries, he got some love too immediately after I took this picture.

It’s April again; time to remind folks how awesome my dogs are (lots of words but feel free to skip them and look at the pictures)
And remind you that this would be a great time to get one, or seven, of your own.
Far be it from me to sound like I’m talking down about any other kinds of dogs, because I love every good boy and girl I’ve known.
However, if you want an easy to live with, low maintenance dog I have the dog for you!
I’ve had numerous different breeds in my life, and my greyhounds are definitely the most chill. Both of mine absolutely love going out on an adventure, but if all we’re doing is hanging out at home they’re happy with that too.
Not a lot of space? No problem! They roll up into surprisingly small packages.
Actually they’re often ranked as among the best apartment dogs. You’ll often be asked if they need a lot of exercise. I typically chuckle before letting folks know they sleep more than our cats.
When they do run though, it’s amazing to watch. My girl Ruby is pure, streamlined poetry in motion. Cornbread is a bruiser, and when he runs it sounds like hoof beats.
Cons: if you live somewhere cold and hate the idea of dogs in clothes they’re not for you.
If you love doing obedience training or want to do agility course they aren’t for you. We did obedience training with a truly phenomenal woman that has been involved in agility competitions for over 40 years. She was thrilled with even minor successes because she knows from experience what to expect with sighthounds. We don’t let them off-leash without a fence because as she said no matter how well they learn recall a rabbit a mile away is a higher priority. Given that they can hit 45mph in 6 steps you better scream for them to come back if you want to be heard.
Good news is the selective breeding of racers means they’re pretty healthy dogs, and hip displasia is pretty much non-existent for them because the hip joint is different as part of what makes them so fast.

Back in the fall I posted a picture after seeing the only Toyota truck I’d fight our resident space crab for.
Well, it’s for sale. It’s out of my price range, but unless the rust is far worse than it looks I’m a bit surprised the price isn’t higher.
Shark attack!!!! (No fingers were harmed in the making of this picture)
What do you do when the waitress gives you extra tortillas?
You take them home and make the dogs cheese quesadillas of course.
Ruby actually took this bite very gently. I just happened to snap the picture at the moment of maximum intensity.
When we give her a chip she will grab it with just her lips to carry it where she wants to eat it.

RE: Today seems like a slow day on Oppo?
@CB I’ve told my boss he would know I’d suddenly came into screw you money because I’d show up to work driving one of these.
For sheer absurdity it’s hard to beat a 1915 fire truck that’s been cut up and turned into a two seat speedster.
In case the size of the driver doesn’t give you a good idea of how huge these are; those are 37” tall tires
For extra impracticality it’s powered by a 14.5 liter inline 6.
If you’re wondering why I’d still work that’s an easy answer. I’d only keep working for six months or so, but the pranks and crew lunches that would happen in that time frame would live on in legend long after I’m gone.
RE: Time to load the parts cannon
@e90m3 What I told my wife is I can basically buy the parts to replace everything for less than it would cost to have someone look at it and tell me exactly which parts it needs.
I’ll probably throw some shocks on too I’ll splurge and buy good ones, but if I wanted to keep the cheap theme going I could get them for $9 each.
Time to load the parts cannon
I took the truck to take a load of stuff to goodwill for my grandparents. I don’t drive it a lot except to Lowes which is just down the road and when I take my kayaks out.
The longer than normal drive quickly showed that the front end needs some love.
I haven’t diagnosed exactly what is worn yet, but given how cheap parts are I think I’ll just take the shotgun-troubleshooting approach.
Now I just need to see when I can rent a bay at the auto hobby building at work.
Oppo cleaning help requested: non-automotive
While going through things in my grandfather’s tool stash I snagged a really cool folding ruler.
Now, I’d like to get it cleaned up.
It’s made from brass and wood.
Other than being filthy with what is most likely old oil, a little paint, a few other things that soaked into it over an unknown number of decades in an old box, and having a couple of whatever hardware attached the brass to the wood being MIA it’s in pretty good shape.
What would OPPO use to try and clean this up without risking more damage?
I figured maybe mask off the wood and polish the brass, but what about the wood?
