    @haplesshatrackhackattack

Thought I was too hip to be into cars between the ages of 16-32 (the whole while being totally into cars) have admitted the error of my ways. Still have pretty boring cars because of being poor/cheap. Cars in autobiographical order: '66 T-bird (was 15 never got to legally drive it - yes there is a story there), '72 Mercury Comet (AT), '91 Ford Ranger (MT), '94 VW Jetta (MT), '88 BMW 325 (AT), 2001 Honda Civic (AT), 2003 Honda Civic (MT). My current cars: '96 Ford Ranger (MT), 2017 Hyundai Elantra (AT)

IMG_20201226_163109.jpg Saw this absolute beauty sitting in a neighborhood in Fort Wayne, IN around Christmas. I forgot that I snapped a pic, but just saw it in my photos and my heart skipped a beat or two!

I went on an inordinate amount of dog walks just to ogle this specimen.

It looks like it's probably a Clubman Estate, but not sure the year. I really love the grill treatment more than the chromier versions I'm used to. Anyway I want to spend all the money I don't have on something like it now.

    • FPV RC Cars Anyone?

Hi all, I am pretty new here, but a lifelong car lover and since it seems cool here the owner of a '96 5-speed Ranger. Also a couple of friends and I have been racing PFV RC cars on increasingly elaborate courses. Thought maybe you guys would like this?

@trivet It's such a dumb, plastered on design element. It's like Hyundai thinks it has stumbled on the latest Hoffmeister Kink, but it's really just a reverse Bangle Bungle.

@66p1800inpieces Got that same model from my brother in law for christmas. I mean, I am doing a double shot a day, a little latte if I'm up for treating myself. I love this thing. Especially since popping into a coffee shop to get an espresso or latte isn't quite what it used to be these days. I made an espresso for me and the lady this morning - or is it expresso?

Oh, also had some duck eggs for breakfast that we got from friends - really tasty big ol' suckers!

@vondon302 yeah, that's how I got started, flying tinywhoop drones, and then I saw this car uses the same camera so my FPV headset works with them. The tinyhawk II is such a great fun cheap little drone.

@bicyclebuck DJI and FPV drones are whole different animals, there are flight modes with no angle limiters so I can take my little tinyhawk race II close to 40-50 miles an hour, from a drone that is about the size of the palm of my hand. It is so much fun!!!

@vondon302 here is an image for scale, this is an older car I rubberized the shell on, the batmobile, informally. IMG_20200426_132047.jpg

Hate to be the dummy, but here goes! What does this have to do with Jason Torchinksy? I know who he is, and it must be some sort of inside joke, but I don't get it.

To quote TV's Larry David: "I know it's a show, but I don't get the reference."

Also since I am doing this - someone mentioned going to and being dissapointed with FP's coverage, what is that!

    • RE: RC Days of Thunder!!! small scale stupidity

@misterbuttercup These cars are small, roughy 1:24 scale, in the FPV headset it looks fast paced and crazy, but just standing there looking at it, they look pretty slow, tbh.

Here is footage of a few laps from FPV view:

yeah this is a direct Steam install, and when when I click launch in Steam, this is the window that pops up. If I don't pick the correct directory for all three options in the middle (there is apparently a very specific place, but no instructions as to where) then I cannot go forward, I can only exit and end back up at Steam where I can launch again, rinse, repeat. this is an odd issue . . . I play a lotto Steam games and never really had anything like this before.

@civicwagonengineer This is the screen that pops up after I launch the game, it will not let me go any further than this either . . . it's either punch in all the directories properly or exit. Dunno what's up!

@hfv To each his or her own, but I thought about what you said and did an absolute butcher job of a photoshopping. To me at least it looks sleeker, not bland or boring. and I think it looks leaner and faster w/o the slash.ioniq-5-kvs_4fxd.jpg And as far as the interior goes, I have an irrational love for center consoles based on when I came up, I make no defense of my position on that one.

@siennaman Not sure what the '03 Taurus had, but I will say the flip-up center seat to center console on the 90's Taurus was a pretty sweet trick. 3 cupholders! and one of those change dispenser cars used to have. It's the time of both cupholder and little change holders - a bygone era.

    • RE: Thoughts on the Hyundai Ioniq-5

@siennaman I agree, this has none of the functionality of a bench seat or a standard center console, a worst of both worlds scenario. I think one thing that colors my opinion of center consoles is that in the mid 90's when I got fully obsessed with cars, the center console was sort of a reflection of a cars quality or class, maybe? The LS400 had a full center console, while the civic had one that was much lower (not above the waist). And it seemed the newer or nicer the car, the console height was creeping up close to where the Lexus was. So in my mind the higher the center console, the nicer and more futuristic the car was. A flawed perception I know, but one that is really drilled into my head, like it or not!

@fractalfootwork Yeah, the interior looks just decent, while on the outside this looks pretty cutting edge, inside if you took the badges off and told me it was a current production Peugot, or Citroen, or some other car maker who's design language I am not familiar with, I would say sure, that makes sense. Not what you would call super futuristic.
