After much drama we have a house. There was one on the market that I thought we had but the wife freaked out and didn't want to sell. Two retired people in a 5000 square foot home and no children/grandchildren. Weird. Another house that we put an offer in on but were seriously outbid. Well, that offer fell through for some reason and we wound up getting it. It's a three car garage but it is very short in height, the quick jack will be tough to use. Additionally, the driveway is very steep. The good news is we have a house in a great area with fantastic schools.

That happened faster than I expected.
Our house sold for over list. On the market less than a week. Now just waiting to hear back from the Portland house.

Let the chips fall - fail update
Didn't get the house, our bid was good but the other party waived inspection. I'm not comfortable with that, so I feel good about not getting the house. We placed our bid and we're comfortable with it. The house is nice, but has many things that truly need to be fixed. The appliances weren't high end enough for a seven figure price tag. If people beat us out, they're paying that much and they'll have a nice house that'll still need work. We should know in a day or so if we got the house. If not, we know the area we really like.
That aside, my God I love Portland. My family spent over an hour in Powell books today and it was awesome. All of my kids read now, even if my daughter is limited on proficiency. But, they all found several books to read tonight and we all had a good time back in there hotel room reading.

@kitt222 Time to do some trolling.

Secret Senna received
Awesome gifts. Seriously, the bbq branding iron will be awesome for cheeses and meats that I do. And the coffee mug perfectly describes my morning.
Thanks @Taylor-Martin

@bman76 it's fine, Elon finds this gap tolerance acceptable.

Fuck it, we're moving south.
To Portland Oregon. It's official, we'll be there in March/April. Now it's time to hurry up and finish getting our house ready to sell.

Pretty cool gift from my wife
Stuck in Austin for an extra week meant waiting to give gifts for an extra week. Here's one from my wife. Marred by the framing shop who acquiesced to triple damages and a full refund. I still like it. I'll frame it myself kthx.

How I chill
I love street racing. It's horrible, deadly, stupid, etc. Thirty some years ago I did it a shitload and I've still managed to sneak out for a good show every once in a while.
Yes it's dangerous performed in a populated area with motorists driving by. It's stupid. Racing in desolate stretches of land...who hasn't gassed their car on an on ramp?

RE: The origins of Alito's rejection of Roe
@nermal said in The origins of Alito's rejection of Roe:
One side of the debate thinks that an unborn child should be considered a person and thus should be legally protected from being murdered
@atfsgeoff said in The origins of Alito's rejection of Roe:
Example: In many states there are laws which qualify a fetus as a person for purposes of murder charges against someone who who injures and/or kills a pregnant woman, causing the fetus to be lost. Yet that same woman could terminate her own pregnancy without a murder charge. This is a double standard and should not be tolerated. Pick one way or the other, even if it has to be state by state, it should at least be consistent per jurisdiction
Plus countless pro life family members who have no idea what we went through.

RE: The origins of Alito's rejection of Roe
@bison78 It's nice to see people indirectly calling my wife and myself murderers. After spending hundreds of thousands of dollars and the better part of a decade trying to get pregnant to only have overshot the mark and not want to become an octomomesque family. I don't know how to befriend somebody calling me a murderer, but since it's OPPO I'll try to be excellent.

@Tripper I vote Nogaro with good wood a close second. Nogaro is the classic color that just screams Audi to me.
