Happy 37th Birthday you old bastard
Not the production date, but today is when we took delivery in 1984, so that's as good as I can come up with for a birthday.
That's me on the first day of preschool...temp tags still on it!!

Please excuse the crudity of this model
A quick first effort. I’ll plan this out better next year

RE: At ~$53k the X3 seems like a lot of money
@e90m3 IMO, middle class wages being (relatively) stagnant, combined with outsized inflation for healthcare & higher ed, is why cars seem so much more expensive.
But on top of that there is the general mind playing tricks on you kinda thing. I maintain a Corolla should still be like $15K, TOPS.

RE: It’s the end of 2021 post a photo of your car
Resolving to drive it more in 2022

British Car Show Photodump
This was held at Jo Ann Stores HQ which is a former GM truck plant that morphed into Terex (heavy equipment). Apparently pre WW2 it was a small municipal airport too!
Between the BSA and Wolseley, some really interesting stuff showed up. The one Europa has a LS in it! The Land Rover truck was pretty cool too.

RE: Rare But Boring Manual Cars For Sale
@dtg11 oh wow. I swear I’ve seen a number of IS convertibles with a 6MT for sale. I must have been wrong if only 90! were made

RE: Rare But Boring Manual Cars For Sale
@BeaterGT yah exactly. That’s what has the brain turning. It looks like a 2 owner car from non rusty area. But current owner is a student at Kent State.
I think part of this is I’m still SUPER TICKED at myself for passing on a slightly newer one 5 mins from me with only 40K on it in 2018. Chasing the one that got away is dicey. That one was mint….this one is fine, but not nearly as nice as that prior one.
Edit: just went to get a pic of it to add and it’s sold. Phew. Mind at ease.

RE: Rare But Boring Manual Cars For Sale
There’s an 08 IS250 with 60K miles and a 6MT about 15 mins from me. And I’m really struggling if I should go check it out!

RE: Leno Breaks Several Bones in Vintage Motorcycle Accident; "Garage" cancelled by CNBC
@davesaddiction it would be cool to see all his cars one day. Hopefully they stay together as a museum for at least some time period...maybe 5 years? Then could get scattered and absorbed by other museums.
With as much $ as that dude has, I'd think he could set aside funds to keep it a nonprofit museum for a long, long time.

RE: Quitting is hard
@Taylor-Martin edited to write "understaffed".....you know...I meant the exact opposite of what I wrote!

RE: Quitting is hard
you're making a good call. In a perfect world, they might even pay you out for your 2 weeks. It's probably tough if you're understaffed, but I've definitely seen it more in office jobs where they don't really want you around any longer. So they accept your 2 weeks and let you leave in a few days, but still pay you the full 2 weeks (and vacation).
Anyway, good luck on the search. If you want to keep the income rolling in while you're searching, with so many places short staffed, you may be able to jump in for mornings at Starbucks or something. Leaves half your day open still for interviews and such.

RE: Santos - House Ethics process
@davesaddiction oh for sure! I enjoyed it immensely.
Based on his style, I'd bet a dollar it was his writing/line.
The Dana Carvey/David Spade podcast is generally pretty good. Their episode with Downey was pretty interesting.
