I've seen a handful of these in the wild, but this is the first one I've seen in a few years, and the only example I've ever witnessed moving under its own power. The Vixen seems to be about as cool as RVs get (maybe second to the funky '70s GMC motorhome, but those are a bit porky).

A fraction of the Vixen's size, this little guy is so narrow, it messed with my perception. If there'd been no other traffic nearby at first glimpse, I'd have thought it was much farther away than it actually was:

(Atrai is one of the various labels the Hijet has carried over the years. No clue what generation this one is.)

I've never been more than indifferent to the Aztek, but now that they're thin on the ground, they sure do stand out on the rare occasion I see one. I'm sure we've got some fans here. Looks like this one has been more pampered than most.

      Good luck!

First time I've ever heard a cover of that tune. It's a pretty straightforward version, but I gotta say I prefer Stan Ridgway's vocals on the original:

    • More Tracy bait?

Possibly another hol(e)y grail, although this thing looks too sound for David T. I'm not really a CJ/Scrambler/etc guy - my one & only Jeep was an '83 Wagoneer (Pioneer package, AKA the Frugal Yankee special - 258 CI straight 6, 4MT, Armstrong windows, no A/C, manual hubs) back in the late '80s/early '90s, but this caught my eye in Lake City (NE Seattle) yesterday.

A very brief, yelled convo yielded that this is a Mitsubishi turbo diesel-powered rig, not a USPS rural route vehicle. Jeep guys, what vintage is this? What market? The TURBO graphic screams 1980ish, but the tiny tail lights make me think it could be older, or maybe they're not original. Dude was definitely enjoying the hell out of a beautiful day for
      windshield-down driving.

Apologies in advance for the potato-grade pix.

There's nothing wrong with being picky. I've knocked people out because their resumes looked like trash - if you are not going to take the time to polish what will be your introduction to me, why would I think you would do a good job if hired?

I once got a resume that included a head shot, like an actor would supply. This was for a seasonal winery position (extra help during harvest). It made me laugh, but he had a bit of relevant experience, so I asked him to come in for an interview. He showed up late, wearing flip-flops & ripped jeans. I told him I now knew all I needed to know about him, and there would be no interview. He somehow interpreted that as having gotten the job, and was shocked when I informed him otherwise.

    • RE: Found while CL RV browsing

@nowhere Even by CL standards, that's some terrible photography. Why do the interior shots look like they were taken 40 years ago, with an Instamatic? I really like how there's not even a hint in any of those pix that the conversion is actually in this van. Just a wide shot, with the damn slider open would do it.

Whoever thought this was acceptable needs a piece of two by four round the head, repeatedly.

Seems like that may have happened first.

@ash78 @Brickman Yeah, I was thinking Celica too, but looks like they actually are stock upon further research!

Yep, I had the manual transmission version of this, a '98, and those were the stock wheel covers.

I'm shocked this is still around, in this any condition, in northern New England. It must spend half the year in storage.

@kiltedpadre said in What’s Oppo listening to?:

I’m listening to some Bonnie Raitt tonight. I’m sulking a bit because I just found out she’s doing a concert right around the corner, but I’ll be on call that night so I can’t go unless I can convince someone to cover for me on a summer weekend.

You might be interested in her appearance on WTF with Marc Maron earlier this week. Excellent interview. I guess it should be no surprise that she's got some great stories after 50-whatever years in the business.

I’m not kidding about right around the corner either. On nice nights I’ll sit outside and music from the venue is like having a stereo playing soft background music.

That sounds pretty good, assuming you enjoy most of the acts performing.
