    • My Christmas Present to Myself

I couldn’t keep it a secret from friends after a week, and late night posts on Oppo with trick vehicles would get tiring after a while. This is the replacement for my Golf Alltrack.

CPO 2020 Volvo V60 Cross Country in Denim Blue with the Blonde interior. It’s in beautiful condition. It has 37K miles.

      70F49966-CAF1-41F7-8C41-239BA35133F5.jpeg

Along with the great features the Alltrack has (including the automatic parking), this has features like a heads up display, adaptive cruise control, and a foot-activated power liftgate. The Luxury Package with cooled and massaging seats is super hard to find. That’s what made me pursue this one 1,100 miles away. This, combined with the aftermarket Polestar tune, the 20” wheels, and roof rails (a $2,500+ value outside of the sticker), made me reserve this. The price was under $40K. There will be an unlimited mileage warranty for two years and some change. I drive 30K hard miles per year.

The deal should be completed around Christmas. I should have the car the first week of 2023

I’m nervous right now and will miss the Alltrack, but I’m looking forward to my new toy.

Thank you to those who have supported the Alltrack from its purchase in May 2020 until trade-in today. From talking to @Tripper about these in Spring 2020 to meeting @WhoIsTheLeader with it last year, this car has a good connection with the community.

However, the warranty issues that occurred throughout the past year and difficulties with local VW dealers made now a good time to part. A local dealer offered a value at 76K miles that most dealers couldn’t beat even six months ago at 62K miles. I would’ve loved to sell via Cars and Bids or one of y’all, but the history, headliner, armrest, etc. would’ve caused too much commotion.

Tomorrow, the process begins to make the V60 CC official!

    • Quick Introduction

Hey, y’all! I hope everyone is enjoying the end of their week.

I wanted to put a topic out there so people know who I am. I joined with this fun account name because browsing Oppo without an account causes crashes. Save for goofy posts, such as saying the reason my username is Cars is Cars, I planned on keeping community participation minimal.

However, I saw a need for more Alltrack and MK7 representation, so here I am.

This is my 2019 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack SE w/ the DAA package. It’s Silk Blue with Beige Leatherette and the DSG. I bought it new May 2020 and am about to hit 50K miles. I see Alltrack considerations here regularly and would love to provide some insight since I use mine so much. Some of my favorite features are the automatic parallel parking, the parking sensors, and the camera hidden behind the Volkswagen logo.

I’m a big fan of modern cars and deals on modern cars, so conversation relating to those topics is up my alley. I’m excited about the direction this site is taking, especially with the new DriveTribe base.

    • I Got My Title!

No picture for obvious privacy reasons, but my title came in the mail yesterday!

I mentioned a couple weeks ago at 3AM that I authorized a payoff. I could’ve purchased the car outright this whole time, but I wanted to take advantage of 0%.

Now, the car is officially mine (and my mom’s).

    • Hour Rule: Layoff Time

My company had a big layoff on Friday. I was not impacted, but others on my team and others I interacted with were. The layoffs were immediate. This will have an effect come Monday and beyond.

I chose this industry because of how essential it is. These layoffs took everyone by surprise. I thought someone was capping with me when I was notified via text. I was off on Friday. This shock, combined with some bad family news, meant I needed a good evening with my sister.

I got to drive her around in the Volvo and have dinner, get gas, and get cookies. The V60 CC had a good service this morning. Nothing is wrong with the car.

I went on an important errand with @WhoIsTheLeader after lunch at La Parrilla.

These are indeed Whips. The speedometer only goes up to 40 MPH. A couple had their original window stickers, too.

    • Merry Christmas

Massaging seats are awesome. This came with the surprise sunglasses holder. It’s super cold outside. Lastly, a major shoutout to the transporter that found me on Central Dispatch. I’m super appreciative of them.

I’ll probably have more updates later, but I need to unwind from 2.5 weeks of stress.

      Merry Christmas, y’all!

    • Almost 5,000 Miles Already

      B2A504DF-E656-4A6E-B1C1-8F0C27B8CADC.jpeg

The car arrived two days before Christmas, and I’ve put 4,9xx miles on it. With my new schedule starting this week, I expect my weekly mileage to increase.

I sometimes wonder if it was a waste of money. The car is paid for, but my insurance and fuel costs are higher. I can solve the insurance issue soon.

Then, I remember cars are my passion, and my car is one of my main interests. I’m in my car all the time. Today alone, I put 160 miles on it. I can’t think of any other car with massaging seats and an unlimited mileage warranty that can park itself under $40K.

Aside from fuel economy, everything about this car is an improvement. I have proximity sensors on the rear doors, I have a power, foot activated liftgate, I have an auto hold feature at stoplights, I even have a sunglasses holder (again). The features I did have on the Golf Alltrack work better in here.

As of now, I have nothing but good things to say. I look forward to the next tens of thousands of miles.

    • I Looked at an Arteon

      A53B381E-06B0-4341-B98D-460E4EFA204E.jpeg

One of the only cars I’d consider to replace my Alltrack is a Volkswagen Arteon SEL Premium R-Line. When I was shopping replacements while the Alltrack was away, no Arteons existed nearby. A few weeks ago, my local dealer got a certified 2021 in Kings Red. Of course, I had to go see it.

I like the Arteon because it’s rare like the Alltrack, is unique, and has the features of my Alltrack and more. Features like cooled seats, a hands-free tailgate, and KESSY on the back doors are just some of the welcome upgrades I would want on my Alltrack. Also, the mirrors fold when you lock the doors, which is awesome.

Though the price is right (especially for this market) at $7-8K under sticker for a 20K mile car, insurance would be $70/month more and I’d have to use 93 Octane. The performance advantage wasn’t enough to warrant jumping up. If this was a Scat Pack, I wouldn’t mind Premium. Plus, I really don’t want to get rid of the Alltrack. Sure, it needs another headliner, cleaned sunroof drains, tires and brakes, and creaks when it turns, but I’m happy with the car and want to hold onto it. I’m glad I got to see the Arteon, but the Alltrack is staying for now.

Here’s the Alltrack in a parking garage for your time. No automatic parallel parking needed for now!

    • One Week Volvo Update

      F3CA80F1-C2F2-46B7-8314-C56F0ADB2E62.jpeg

Arrival was a subtle post, but I’ve had the Volvo for a week and almost 500 miles. This is lower mileage for me due to Christmas.

After getting an awful 18 MPG on my first tank, I’m now averaging above the EPA estimate! Monitoring my driving and Start Stop and Eco Mode are improving my efficiency. I finally cracked 22 overall (EPA city rating) Thursday and improved past 25 with some interstate driving mixed in.

Why is the tire pressure light on? Pilot Assist is awesome and a semi autonomous driving system, but it didn’t catch a pothole on 285.

      D3FD6508-266D-478A-BB2B-B24CBEE1FE42.jpeg

I’m incredibly lucky because the tire wasn’t losing air and the rim wasn’t damaged. Volvo’s free roadside help sent someone out to put the spare on.

      A9CFE84A-67A6-455C-8110-6EE6CE36FAF1.jpeg

Ironically, my fuel economy IMPROVED with the spare in local driving. I also dropped my wheel and caused a minor scuff.

      31B936D4-965E-4EAE-BD72-EC47C81ED23D.jpeg

Later today, while I’m working (since it’s NYE), I’ll search for a new Michelin tire and maybe rim repair.

If you have any Volvo questions, please let me know. The massaging seats are awesome.

    • One Quarter and Almost 9,000 Mile Volvo Update

      14E7BC1E-6762-489B-85F8-1EC4F0B95336.png

Today marks three months since the Volvo arrived. It’s quickly become a workhorse covered in pollen like the Alltrack was, but I’ve enjoyed it. It had 36,697 miles upon arrival.

I still need to get plastic plate covers and install my dashcam.

Fuel economy is mediocre (this is a great overall tank for me) and CarPlay acts up sometimes, but I’m overall pleased with this car. It’s a huge improvement over the Alltrack.

Please ask me anything about this car!
