The past year has been the longest decade ever.

RE: Bugatti and Rimac merged, with Porsche thrown into the mix
@musashi66 This is basically VAG moving Bugatti from one pocket to the other while getting a stake in Rimac at the same time.

RE: Helping clean out an old IT storeroom this morning
@davesaddiction Yes, I would like to type an email one letter at a time using a stylus.

RE: Cammisa on Plaid
And if I'm shopping for an EV at that price, I'm going to get a Taycan 200% of the time.

RE: Can we shake hands yet?
I honestly hope shaking hands goes away forever.
No touchy.

RE: More amazing takes from the FP
Oh goody. Another pile-on, Let's all hate on Jalopnik; specifically these two people thread.
I'm not saying your points aren't valid. Only that we can do better than hating on people for having different opinions. This is Oppo. We can do better. We should be better.

Have Prime Video?
Watch this.
Be sure to enable subtitles. It's even more bizarre than the strange you think it is.

RE: Car shopping conundrum
Counterpoint to the previous post: The Miata is the better car precisely because it doesn't need to be driven at insane speeds to feel exciting.
The Cayman is a great car. But if it's anything close to the Boxster I test drove, it won't feel exciting unless you absolutely thrash it. Which means going fast. Likely "Go immediately to Jail. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200." fast.
A fun car should be fun all the time. Get one that feels exciting even at school-zone speeds.

You are all wrong.
BMW's The Hire.
Specifically Star and Beat The Devil

RE: GM’s latest Pilot program
@WasGTIthenGTOthenNOVAthenGTInowA4
Electrify America (owned by VW) has around the same number of stations, or is planning on matching Tesla soon.
I think all these car makers are waiting for someone else to do the heavy lifting first. Tesla did about half of it, and once they open their chargers to the CCS plug, it will ease charging anxiety significantly.

RE: GM’s latest Pilot program
@ash78
Everyone except Tesla uses the exact same charging plug. There is no way to lock other EVs out of using those chargers mechanically. And doing so with software would create huge backlash.Tesla only uses their own design plug because the CCS standard wasn't finalized when they started wider production.

RE: Oppo - School Me On Bicycles
They have two wheels, are hard to balance and don't stand on their own without assistance. Most don't even have a motor, so you have to use your legs and "pedal" or something. Sounds like work.
You should get a car. Those don't usually fall over if you walk away.

RE: What would you replace your current daily driver with
Want: Ionic 5
Dream: Whatever Porsche calls their Macan EV.
Reality: Probably something I hate but that's as efficient as I can afford.

RE: This or That 201
Wacky Jo0p for me as well.
Would swap a modern plug-in hybrid drivetrain and build it for Overlanding. With some portable solar panels you could probably keep a decent charge in the battery pack.
