Can't Let One Take The Spotlight

So I grabbed some shots of the new girl as well:
And seeing my fogged headlight sent me over the edge last night, so I ordered replacements as well. Got lucky and found the blackout headlights without the amber! -
but are those replacement lamps legal in the USA?
-
We had one of these as a rental and found the gas pedal very sensitive from a stop. Every time pulling into traffic from a stop, the front wheels would chirp if you hit the accelerator too hard. I was really impressed with the ride quality how quiet it was on the highway.
-
@pip-bip Why wouldn't they be?
-
@long_voyager94 wouldn't the amber sections be a legal requirement for lighting regs?
-
@krustywantout Overall I love it. The ride and lack of road noise is what made us buy it instead of a lot of other vehicles.
Response and low end were the only things that bothered me (Coming from older vehicles that are cable drive and all low end), but I resolved that issue with some port work and a better intake..... -
@pip-bip Yes and no. I'll be running amber leds in there, so it will still light amber as intended.
-
@long_voyager94 once you get them have a look over them and see if they have any DOT markings?
-
@pip-bip Not sure I care that much if I'm being honest.
These are likely the least illegal headlight mod around here, I doubt the cops will even notice. -

The answer generally in the US is, "Does it matter?"
I don't think any states, even ones with vehicle inspections, check that thoroughly to see if the headlights are stock or approved for that vehicle.
-
Also, I don't know the degree that officers can enforce DOT requirements. I believe DOT are federal manufacturer requirements and not generally in state law.
-
If DOT regs were commonly enforced by traffic police, I think you would have some explaining to do regarding your rally van......
-
@long_voyager94 fair enough.
-
@mastermario interesting to know. cheers.
-
@krustywantout @Long_Voyager94 When we had a T&C I left the "eco" mode on so the throttle wasn't as touchy.
@Long_Voyager94 The headlights on the GC are already getting hazy? That seems really quick, no?
-
@houstonrunner Ew, ECO mode, the Chrysler van transmission destroyer.
We looked at a couple vans recently that we walked away from due to the owner using ECO mode.My headlight developed a leak somewhere allowing moisture to get into it.
It's gotten even worse since this pic. It's to the point it's severely limiting light output.
Of course Chrysler is refusing to warranty it despite me having B2B warranty for another 25k miles..
I told them it was BS that my 2 yo van needs headlight assemblies when my 26 yo van is still on the OEM headlights. -

Not my project though so don't blame me for the leak! It should absolutely be under warranty in my opinion though.
And yes, the new ones are probably not technically legal but also doubt anyone would notice or care. As far as the DOT marking goes, I'm sure the factories making the knockoffs in china are very conscientious about whether or not they have authorization to use the DOT marking!

@Long_Voyager94 Interesting, didn't know that about Eco mode. Not an issue since I don't have it any longer.
I am a little surprised they aren't covering the headlight when it is under warranty. Hopefully it isn't as much as the assembly was on my Suburban - OEM was $800, and I didn't trust reviews on any of the non-OEM ones. Not to mention most of the non-OEM assemblies had some hideous LED's tacked on.

Most people don't, hence why so many have trans issues......
OEM were just over $280 each. Or I could go aftermarket for $175/pair, kinda seemed a no brainer.

It seems to me that a crack or seam leak causes it to fog, but a larger hole doesn't as it lets the water vapor out...., Anybody else have that experience?
