The Zero now has a touch of color
-
My Zero came from the factory with unpainted black plastic for body work. After nearly 5 years of sun fading, I decoded to try a little color on them.
I took off the 4 main panels and in an act of non-commitment, I plasti-dipped them Daytona Yellow. Because of the unfinished black plastic, they needed a couple layers of white first.
Then a whole lot of yellow. This is my first pass at plasti-dip, and I definitely did a mediocre job. But that's fine, it was just to try, and I'll probably peel it before the end of the season. Getting the right 'weight' applied on each pass takes a little practice.
But, it's together, and ready for tomorrow's first 50 degree day of the year. I'll get the badges back on and wait patiently for a couple soft bags coming by week's end. Unfortunately, we'll be right back to 20s and 30s by Saturday.

@tekamul How've you liked the zero? I have a 350 enduro bike and would consider an electric for city ripping. I do love the brAAAAAAAps though. But that electric torque does entice me.
-
@tekamul Not bad! My preference is more of a 'golden yellow', personally!

@tekamul I'm not sure I like that shade of yellow, but you can definitely tell the bike looks better not being all black.
-
@sn4cktimes I love the zero. The torque is very nice, and the light weight (~285) makes city navigation pretty easy.
-
@facw I went Daytona because it matches my helmet fairly closely.
Since it wasn't hard to do the dip, I'll probably rotate it every year. -
@tekamul That's awesome! I've been looking quite seriously at the Zero FX, so it's nice to see someone around here with some experience with them
-
The color looks great! You think you’ll do real paint next time or just a more thorough Plastidip re-do? There is something kinda cool about the flexibility to change colors as you see fit.
-
@tekamul That looks great! I love the yellow on the black.
-
@orneryduck I feel like I'll know when the color is right, and commit to paint.
