2021 Hyundai Venue good news and bad news
-
Good news: it's now offered in a cool green color
Bad news: no more manual transmission
Someone on oppo* got a 2020 manual Venue in red for like $10k just before the herb shut down oppo
*are you here now?
-
@dogisbadob I believe that was @fhrblig
-
@essextee I believe it’s pronounced “Bob”.
-
@cb It's actually the onomatopoeia for the noises you make when vomiting while loopy on nighttime flu medicine
-
@dogisbadob It me! I didn't get it quite that cheap, but they chopped $4500 off of the MSRP for the base SE. By now, some dealers with manual Venues still on their lots may be willing to cut the price even more.
-
@cb True dat

oops sorry
I must have made a mistake when I first read your writeups on the old oppo, sorry!
It sounded like it was 13k then they took 3k off that oops
-
@dogisbadob No, I wish! But $13,900 is pretty good for a car with a sticker over $18k, I think.

oh yeah, still a great deal
-
@fhrblig My jaw kinda went slack reading that post. Great deal.
-
@chariotoflove It really was. I'd been keeping my eye on it on the Cars.com app when it was listed for $16,500 and kept thinking about it, but talked myself out of driving it. By chance I looked it up a couple weeks later and that's when I saw the price drop, and picked it up that same day.
-
@fhrblig Such a good deal for a new (NEW!) car that isn't a Mistubishi Mirage. Oh how I wish I had any need for a vehicle like that, just so I can myself the ol' pat on the back.
"Honey, you bought a new car and you don't even commute."
"But it was so cheap!" -
I was gonna ask what the hell a Hyundai Venue was. So I looked.
Yep, don't care.
-
@dr-zoidberg Fortunately for me, my husband already liked the Venue so there wasn't any resistance. There's a good chance he may actually still buy one, and then we'll be one of THOSE weird couples that have two of the same car.
Also, we keep our finances separate and we both pretty much give each other carte blanche to do what we want when it comes to our vehicles, though we do discuss it beforehand.
-
@saracen "Venue" is a French word meaning "Accent Hatchback".
-
I can't blame them but then again why did they even offer it with a stick in the first place? Seems like now that they did the R&D they'd keep it around to advertise a lower base price even if they don't actually make more than a few.
-
@whoistheleader That's what puzzled me in the first place. I remember reading about the Venue when it first came out and when they said it would be available with a stick, my first thought was "why?" It seems to go against what people who are looking for small crossovers want. I mean, I'm glad they did it and I was able to get one at fire sale prices, but I just couldn't figure it out.
-
@fhrblig base price for advertising. It's not a terrible investment but it's odd to kill it halfway through as that's basically the only reason it exists.
