Infiniti, as usual, designs a nice vehicle, and sticks a shitty CVT, and then they wonder why their sales are in the shitter.
My wife would love something like this instead of her RDX, but I ain't touching a Nissan CVT, ever.
Infiniti, two letter for you- ZF. Do it, and watch your sales improve.

That hatch fitment. Big ol' yikes. I'd worry my dog would fall out of the panel gaps.
-
Needs more grill! The interior doesn't match the exterior. Looks like a Rogue inside (which is probably what this is based on).
-
@musashi66 Nissan, the official vehicle of "I didn't realize I could get a new car with a 472 credit score!"
-
@e90m3 LOL!
-
All I can say is yikes.

Trust me, for the people buying these, the CVT isn't an issue.
I know because we have a 2014 QX60 with the CVT. I really have no complaints about the transmission, because it's not really meant to be that exciting to drive.
It's a somewhat competent and somewhat luxury family vehicle built on generic Nissan parts. They sell the crap out of them in the suburbs near me.
-
@cobrajoe It is supposed to be a luxury vehicle, and it costs as much as other similar models. CVT just doesn't play in that league. But that is just my opinion.

I always tell my wife "Dodge will finance you if you have a pulse", but Nissan is right there as well. WTF happened to them?
-
@musashi66 That's a good question, I'm not sure about Dodge, but Nissan seems to have tried to expand at any cost.
-
@e90m3 Yeah, the whole "make as many cars as you can and sell half to rental agencies" didn't work well. Ghosn did a really shitty job.
-
I'd argue that Infiniti is "near luxury" or "Entry level luxury". It's the same niche that Lincoln was filling 20 years ago.
I guess I didn't realize that the QX55 is the new name for the "sporty" 5 seat CUV, but that doesn't really change my opinion on the CVT. (There are better options for that price for the true driving enthusiast, even in the 5 seat CUV category.)
If they try to make a performance variant, then I'll agree the CVT is a poor choice. Until then, it's a good option for someone who wants a comfortable CUV with a "Sporty" demeanor.
-
I'm kinda digging the interior flow, especially with the red accents. I don't expect it to be the height of luxury, but I could see driving that.
-
@musashi66 Nissan doesn't even check for a pulse before financing you.
-
makes no difference, as it won't be coming to Australia.
