2022 Honda Civic

I’ve got to say I kinda like this. One of the things I disliked about civics from the 8th gen on was the rake of the roof, an windshield, how they wear almost one line. This new one bucks that trend with a long flat hood. Also I like that it’s being unveiled in orange. Colors are good. Honda has been good about offering a few actual color options for the civic, hopefully this orange is a sign of that trend continuing.
-
@hfv Wow, they really Jettafied it. But they kept that fucking awful pinch in the greenhouse, which is my biggest beef with the current Accord.
(Also, wow. Those are two sentences that I’m not sure I could say out loud to anyone I know and have it make sense)
-
1000% agree with everything you said. I absolutely hated the computer-mouse styling of the 8th and 9th gen civics. The orange is also nice, and the overall design is wonderfully restrained compared to the previous gen. Well done. C pillar is wack, but I can deal.
-
@phenotyp I totally understand both sentences! Yeah I don’t really like the weird shape of the rear window either totally unnecessary.
-
It is somehow both better and worse.
-
Cool A3. Where's the Honda?
-
It's... Ok I guess? In a more boring color, with more boring wheels and no "pull me over right now" window tints, it's a pretty average sedan. Not sure how I feel about the overbite.

Small Accord
-
I hope you can still get a three pedal version, I'd be super interested in a used one in a couple years.
-
too much tC in its proportions
-
@gettingoldercarguy the interior especially screams A3 with the screen just stuck on to an otherwise clean dash design.
-
It looks so... simple. I get the appeal of owning a powerful Civic, but the edges on the Type R and even the SI can be a little jarring. It also looks a bit smaller, or maybe it's just more narrow from the photos.
Cool color too.
-
Every small sedan has the same rear end now.
-
@adamftw there’s been talk of a next gen Si and Type R. I’m sure that at least those will have a manual option.
-
@jarrett and they all look like liftbacks but aren’t liftbacks.
It’s like manufacturers are competing to see who can make the smallest trunk opening -
@hfv It certainly feels that way. For instance, my BRZ trunk opening is devastatingly bad. I load big items through the passenger door lol. Not sure why manufacturers want to emulate that experience with other cars if they don't have to.
Edit: half thoughts.
-
@hfv they might be the only ones with a manual. The manual base Civic sedan was dropped for 2021, as was the coupe entirely, so the only regular manual Civic you can get in 2021 is the hatch. Not a good sign for the next gen.
-
It's definitely better. I don't like the derpy face (hello Scion TC) but the lines are a lot cleaner and work together compared to past Civics. It's a little more generic now, but in a handsome way.
-
The stupid stubby trunk shit again
It should just be a hatchback with that shape

This.
I think the mini-Accord styling looks good on the Civic
