Imagine Defending Andrew Cuomo
It turns out that the bad man is still bad: https://medium.com/@lindseyboylan4NY/my-story-of-working-with-governor-cuomo-e664d4814b4e
Why does anyone (not you good Oppos, but some people) defend this man? Is he so important that only he can be the Democratic Party's choice for Governor?

Disgusting. Hope he goes down, and hard.
Unlike 18 other states in the nation, there is no recall system for voters in New York State to remove an elected official. The power to remove an elected official rests solely with the Governor. There is no provision of New York State law that would authorize a city or local government recall.
If you haven't watched The Morning Show on Apple TV+ (yeah, I know - got a free year with a recent phone purchase), I found it quite good. Very much related to #MeToo, and gives a very deep and nuanced take.

@forsweden I never liked him. He seemed like a blowhard during the pandemic and it seems like he is a person with little character. Plus his brother is also annoying.

Fuck the Cuomo Dynasty and the Cuomo News Network

@dogisbadob CNN made a great move by adding Abby Phillip but I can't stand anyone else on there. Actually Fareed Zakaria is also excellent but they barely give him prime air time.
@forsweden They are doing it for his west-coast counterpart as well.
The deep state is deep.
- He also ordered COVID patients into California nursing homes
- California Employment Development Department (unemployement) sent 16% of all tax collected in 2020 to scammers for a total over over $31B
- He had a backroom deal with a Chinese mask supplier where the state pre-paid $0.5B. The masks never arrived because they failed safety certification
- Companies that made substantial contributions to Gov. Gavin Newsom received no-bid contracts from the state, influential appointments, or other opportunities related to the state’s pandemic
- He just authorized $600 stimulus checks for CA residents making under $30k, but doubled to checks to those making under $70k if you're here illegally
- CA is the last state to get teachers back in school. They still aren't back. Unless it's a private school (where HIS kids go).
- Economically, the state is shambles. I'm predicting a bankruptcy within 10 years. The state has lost a significant amount of its tax base thanks to his tax and COVID policies. Small businesses are also dead, as half of restaurants in the state are gone forever.
You'll notice that I didn't mention the French Laundry incident. That's because the media wants you to believe that it's why he's being recalled.

@forsweden our state health official got pulled by Biden for assistant hhs Secretary, did the exact same thing as Cuomo. Pulled her relative out of a home just before she did it. I guess PA didn't lie about the number of old folks they killed though. "Most competent person in the country" apparently.
Also, whe knew about this nursing home thing in like july of last year. Just now everyone is upset about it. Still don't understand that one.
@nickhasanexocet surely there is another Democrat in California who could be Governor!

@forsweden I am so fucking glad he didn't run for president in 2020. I mean I'd have voted for him over Trump, but like Trump he is plenty corrupt and scummy. Hopefully he gets forced out here and we never have to hear about him again.

@nickhasanexocet CNN is the "deep state"? No more than FOX, both are biased sources relied upon as a primary outlet by those without critical thinking skills, but "deep state" implies an (unfounded) conspiracy, and conspiracy theories are no more "ethical" than doing the happy dance when a legitimately despicable soul finally shuffles off the mortal coil. If there was a real "deep state", you wouldn't know about half of Newsome's idiocy and corruption (sounds like he'd have worked well in 45's regime).
In CA now it's up to the opposition (and the Ds, for that matter) to field a superior candidate. WA has had D governors for decades, in large part because the opposition can't muster up credible competition. The latest one was possibly the worst - bitter mouthy boomer stereotype one horse town LEO with virtually no real world experience in anything but being a modern day Barney Fife, but without the charm (but embracing Trumpist conspiracy idiocy). That was the best they could do. The current D governor is nothing to write home about, but when the opposition is so weak, he's going to remain in office.
CA needs another governator.
Media outlets are unelected and unauthorized networks of power.
Why did you even bring up FOX except to just drop a whataboutism? You should try to catch yourself before hitting submit on these things.
California Democrats are going to rally behind Newsom again. His name will be on the recall ballot. This is what the ballot will look like:
@fintail I hope CNN isn't the Deep State. If the CNN producers I have interacted with are the Deep State, we are screwed.*
*If the CNN camera crews are the Deep State, then things are OK

@nickhasanexocet Aaah wikipedia. Not admissible anywhere, but cute.
Even the wiki link doesn't mention media sources as being "deep state". The moronic idea of a deep state conspiracy isn't behind one network glossing over Newsome's failures any more than it is of another media glossing over 45's failures. You should try to catch yourself before quoting like that.
No doubt the wingnuts in Berkeley will support Newsome to the end. To help CA, it'll be up to the Ds and Rs both to take some of that personal responsibility perpetually preached by the latter (and never practiced) and put up some competent candidates. Can either do it?

@forsweden CNN is as much the deep state as my left shoe.
Unexpected twist, The Onion is the deep state.

@dipodomysdeserti Ah, you're right. We're last on so many things that I get confused.

@nickhasanexocet TBF there are open schools here, but districts are allowed to decide for themselves whether to open or not. Everything else has been open since the summer.
