and they toned down the styling.

Si and Type R to follow. -
@interstate366 sweet Acura.
-

I don't dislike it, but the front quarter view of the hood line made me immediately think of a friendly beluga whale. So far as fish go, I'll take that any day over the corporate Lexus gaping predator face.
-
It's attractive but looks the same size as the minivan my family had when I was a kid
-
@cb the back end is very TLX, isn’t it? Won’t have to be changed much to make the inevitable Acura version of it, I guess

It's probably the same size, too.
-
@poor_sh my TSX was the same size as a current gen Civic
-
Oh joy, yet ANOTHER car that takes the incredibly ugly 'let's just glue a tablet to the dash' approach......why do designers think this looks nice rather than integrating it into the dashboard???
-
@rallydarkstrike I think I've read somewhere that it's not about aesthetics, but that embedding the screen takes up way more dash volume than tacking one on. Therefore they can reduce the size of the dash, which opens a bunch of options like allowing better forward visibility and front seat legroom.
-
@interstate366 reminds me of a TSX with a 2 series belt line. I can’t say I hate it. Mostly indifferent tho.
-
Fits in with Honda's radical-conservative styling pattern. It looks okay-ish but that's probably a good thing for a Honda. The Accord still looks better.
-
@poor_sh True! But, me being a grumpy old man, if we did a way with touchscreen interfaces that took up a pile of required space and went back to, say, buttons, where you can actually tell what you're doing without looking and have tactile feedback, then we wouldn't need to weld a giant ugly blob to the top of the dash for legroom and visibility because a single-DIN radio is far thinner.
Also....how is a giant tablet sticking out of the TOP of the dash going to IMPROVE visibility???
-
@rallydarkstrike I agree 100% on buttons
But to the last part, you can lower the top of the dash and therfore see over it down the hood more easily. Mid-engine cars do this well because of not having an engine in front. It's why mid and rear engined Porsches have low hoods even though the sides need to be high for headlights (or did).
A notable exception is the C8 that is mid-engined but somehow has a huge dash with worse visibility than the C7 despite ALSO having a tablet stuck on!

Something to keep in mind also here is that this car is wearing 19" wheels. And they look ...not... oversized. That suggests quite the sizeable sedan, for sure. -
@interstate366 Real audish in the back. Looks good. Curios to see it in fanboy guise
-
@interstate366 Looks like a previous gen A4 or something. Very clean. This may be a good move.
-
I like it. Considering that I haven't liked any of the previous Civic designs initially, that is really saying something. Usually it takes a year or two before I warmup to the Civic designs.
-
@cb yea, that was my first thought. looks VERY TSX-ish
-
@interstate366 as I was only 2 hours late to the party. But my post has pictures!
-
@interstate366 Love child of an Accord and a Jetta.
-
I'm not really a fan. Something about it looks off to me.
-
<Pendantic> Whales aren't fish! </Pedantic>
-
Something that I will miss compared with my '07 is the '07's extended windshield which makes the car feel much more open than my wife's '16 Civic. I understand the styling intent and consumer objection to the dash layout but it really opens the interior feel.
