This is my mom's van. 66k miles, I think. AutoZone says "Oil Pump," but when my mom took the van to the dealer because persistent CEL, they said "fratastat sensor, 500 bucks." If the van needed an oil pump, there'd be another zero before the decimal on that quote, right? Oil pressure sensor maybe? How difficult is that part to change? Common for this platform?

      Paging Dr. @CoolMinivan-Nobody ! !

Is that similar to blinker fluid or elbow grease? I often find those near each other in the same isle.

@Rusty-Vandura oil sensor is on the cooler under the intake manifold.
Sensor itself is only $40-50. It’s the 4-5 hours of labor to change it that’s the problem.

Yes, same isle, but you have to go to the parts counter for the muffler bearings.

Okay, so $500 or so is about right.

@Rusty-Vandura if it’s the oil sensor, then yes.

And iirc they were pretty common on the pre-2016 motors.

She has 1000 mile dog show circuit coming up in a few weeks and she needs tires and she needs this engine code chased down. So I am helping her to get that sorted. Fortunately, according to @CoolMinivan-Nobody , sounds like the engine code isn't that big of a deal.

@Rusty-Vandura I would get it fixed before road tripping it. Last thing you want is a faulty oil sensor that can't tell you when oil actually IS an issue.

I found her a local shop. She's going there this morning.

Because smoking people in a minivan is far more satisfying than smoking people in a vehicle that's supposed to be fast.
