Introducing: Hyphen's List - the Oppo Classifieds
-
The @Curators are proud to announce that Oppo's own classifieds section, Hyphen's List, is now active!
This can be reached by navigating to the appropriate category from the "Categories" page, or by clicking here. Hyphen's List is intended to be both a location for members to sell their secondhand goods (car parts, etc.) as well as providing a space for members to promote their own personal shops and storefronts as vendors.
How does it work?
Hyphen's List is divided into two sections, explained below. In addition to the section rules pinned in each section, the regular code of conduct for Oppositelock applies - be excellent! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to the curators as always.
Swappo
Swappo is for member-to-member private transactions. This is where you, an individual, would post parts, cars, and other goods for sale to other members. Think of it like a swap meet - individuals selling their
junkgoods to other members. In Swappo, you will find a pinned post outlining the guidelines and requirements for ads; both "For Sale" and "Want To Buy" are permitted.Shoppo
Shoppo is for business-to-member transactions. This is where member-owned shops, vendors, etc. are able to post ads, deals, and so on to sell to members. Think of it like a shopping center - businesses and companies selling their products to members. In Shoppo, you will find a pinned post outlining the requirements to get your shop's post approved as well as general guidelines.

Definitely not here: https://opposite-lock.com/topic/3342/dude-we-should-totally-have-an-oppo-buy-sell-page/3?_=1614039269609

@poor_sh Our discussions predate that, but good taste in naming!

The requirements I see, but no process for "approval"... is there an actual process, or is it more or less the old "Follow the rules and be excellent, else we fling a banhammer"?
-
@smallbear I didn't think one would "fling" a banhammer; I'm pretty certain a delicate (yet casual) underhand toss is used, and the universe crushing weight of the banhammer itself does all the work of crushing hopes and dreams for the Mods.

You’re right, it isn’t the most clear there. The process is you create a post in the category Shoppo but it doesn’t go live. The system instead sends us a notification and we then review and decide whether or not to allow it based on the rules.
I honestly don’t see many cases (outside of spam) that would lead to a rejection around these parts.
-
@smallbear As Jminer said, make a post as normal but it won't show up right away. Once we've reviewed that it meets the guidelines and isn't something that should be in Swappo, it'll be approved and show up.
-
@jminer for what it's worth, I really like this approach because it'll be far better than shutting it down after a spammer found it..
