NPoCP - This is the one with IRS, right?
-
I've seen this driven around trown by some old dude for years now. Looks like he might have passed or otherwise become unfit to drive, as it's being sold by a woman of similar age.Ad reads:
2005 Roush Mustang
GREAT CAR. 5 speed, V8, PS, PB, AC, and more. ROUSH tool kit in trunk, 2 sets of keys..clickers, Positraction, CD Player, Always garaged in winter. Gets 30 mpg, Has less than 47k miles ..Nice little hot rod...Signed seats by Jack Roush.....Serious inquires only please.....
Is $20k too dear for this machine?
-
What kind of maniac signs the seats?
-
That depends - does it come with the underwear on the front plate?
-
@cb It's an embroidered signature
-
Positraction
Hmmm...
-
@blondude
-
@thomas-donohue They might be actual Depends
-
@essextee 20K USD? No thanks.
-
This has not aged well
-
@essextee Well they're not signed then, are they? It's like those supermarket poster bids that have dead musician's signatures on them - they didn't sign it, someone else printed it on.
Lies, damned lies, statistics.
-
Positraction leads me to believe this has no IRS.
-
No IRS, and I have serious doubts about 30mpg. No dice.
-
@essextee Not worth it when you can get a new one for < $25k for a turbo or < $35k for a V8, either of which will be a bazillion times better in every regard. Just do an extra year or two on the loan to keep the payment the same.
-
Yes, $20k is too much. $15k is honestly a stretch.
-
The only ones with IRS were the SVT Cobras? I think. That IRS is looking like it would fit in the back of my Volvo nicely.
-
@essextee Even if it was supercharged. 3v 4.6 ugh.
-
@essextee said in NPoCP - This is the one with IRS, right?:
2005 Roush Mustang
As others have said, not IRS. It has a three-link panhard bar setup, a compromise between a full independent rear suspension and a solid axle.
-
2005 Mustang, same year as mine. 300hp, 5 speed manual. 0-60 in 5 second range, 1/4 mile for most will be low 14's (capable of a high to mid 13).
Cool car, still have mine. However, no IRS, likes to slide over the front wheels and compared to the coyotes is an absolute dog. Still fun to drive. But you got to love it at this stage. Never was a fan of the roush bumpers. Perfectly happy with my stock ones.
Also... 30mpg? Never. Ever. No way. Highest I have gotten calculated was 22.x with a bunch of highway. Normally I am in the mid teens because heavy foot and lots of city driving (only time it comes out now, it needs suspension work so long distance is out of the order until that is fixed).
-
IRS cars were only the '99, '01, '03-'04 Cobras and '00 Cobra R until the Gen 6 cars came out ('15+). Positraction is an oft abused word, but IRS RWD cars can and do have clutch based limited slip or helical diffs. IFS/IRS setups can have electrical/air lockers and spools as well.
As far as this car, even a blower Roush car wouldn't get that. The only tuner Mustangs that have a lot of value currently are the Saleen Foxbodies. Not much love for the SN95/New Edge tuner cars, let alone the S197s.
-
@looseonexit I could have sworn there was a tuner that put an IRS into the S197 at some point.
-
@essextee
Maximum Motorsports put one together for SEMA IIRC. If another tuner built one I'd be curious to see it. A couple good Watts systems exist for the S197 though, so at least there's that.The S197 was supposed to be OEM IRS except for an exec killed it (PHIL MARTENS).
Early IRS mule.
