Facebook Marketplace ad; dude wants 48k for a 1970 911S in need of a small amount of work. Turbineguy remains skeptical.

@Turbineguy-Nom-de-Zoom That's pretty cracky, but he could probably get around $35K, which is still absurd, but actually realistic.

@Turbineguy-Nom-de-Zoom That is a major poop show of a car. I wouldn't be surprised if it's been in many accidents and has been taken apart and put together numerous times. This is basically a parts car.

What we obtain too cheaply we esteem too lightly.

@Turbineguy-Nom-de-Zoom — If you're in a hurry you can acid-dip your fenders to lighten your car. Or you can just expose it to road salt and let it sit for half a century.

Has the market for these gotten to the point where people are willing to basically buy a VIN plate and build a car around it? 'Cause unless by some miracle the underneath is in much better shape than the top, that's what you might end up doing here.

Maybe for a Ferrari GTO or F40 but a plain spec 911? Nein.
