i really am on vacation tho...no work for 2 weeks
well....no paid work anyways...mums already enlisted me for manual labour tomorow

apparently some bricks need shifting
as its mum speak...i am going to assume some means a fuckload...

There came a point in my relationship with my mom where our relationship experienced a fundamental shift. Every vacation was turning into an opportunity to for to help her, either with some physical labor or as tech support. I hit the wall when I spent an entire day of my vacation just working on her computer. After I finished, I told her that from that point on, I would gladly pay someone to help her. My wages for a day of labor were a lot higher than the cost of a tech, so I was already spending more to help than it would cost to pay someone else.

@BicycleBuck that seems smart...havent reached that point with my mom yet...truthfully she doesnt ask me to help out very often....but when she does...its almost always heavy labour...and if at all possible on a day thats entirely too hot for that shit...lol

Over here there are usually fellows looking for work as day laborers. Some places have a designated location, but more often than not they can be found near a big-box home improvement store.

@BicycleBuck yep dont have those here...tho its never too hard to find a local handy man or gardener willing to take a jobbie on the side for some cash in hand off the record like

still cheaper to just ask me tho...as ill do it for a meal and a couple beers....and then complain about it on the interwebs

@farscythe I moved 5000 miles away. Then moved a couple thousand miles closer.
My brother used to love that he was 25 minutes away when I was 2 minutes away. It’s all on him these days.

Distance didn't matter to my mom. We lived 12 hours away, yet when we did visit, she'd say, "while you're here..."

I still get that. Even when she visits us she’s got something for me to do.
