What's New With WAY2BLU [Return/Intro post & AMA]
-
This is my first post on Opposite-Lock and I'll take this oppo-rtunity to introduce myself again.
I'm a "first-generation car enthusiast," as in none of my immediate family were into cars before I picked up automotive enthusiasm as a hobby. When I started reading Jalopnik and Oppositelock in 2015, that was the very beginning of my journey as a "car person." Oppo has been with me pretty much since day 1.
I'd been an author on the original Kinja page for Oppositelock since somewhere in 2015 or 2016. I bought my Toyota MR2 pictured in early 2017, and got it painted bright blue in mid-2018. It is now Very Blue:
I've been attending autocross events over the past few years and enjoying being an entry-level motorsport enthusiast. With more time on my hands as I move towards graduating from college, I hope to make some YouTube videos about my autocross adventures to share here.
I'm liking the new post editor setup here on The Hyphen, and it's much easier to compose/post stuff already. Expect some more content later this week from me; I hadn't backed up my Kinja content because I trusted the pages to stay up 'til the end of the month.
If you've got any burning questions about MR2 ownership, what it's like to be a first-generation car person, "just HOW blue is that MR2," etc., ask 'em here!

Who did the paint? Maaco or a "real shop"? It always looks so nice.
-
@qaaaaa Thank you! I went to a local paint shop that I'd heard about and had a custom flat blue mixed for the job. It's a non-metallic blue so it really pops in direct sunlight, which works well in SoCal.

Blue cars are good!
-
Nice intro! Is it still nice and warm down in SoCal?

Have you ever driven a 1st Gen? I get that the 2nd Gen is a better choice as a semi-daily but something about the wedge makes me want to get one as a play car for a year or so.
