My wife got me a Breitling to replace the one lost in the Ducati crash. Ok, I paid for it, but she dragged me out to get it when I was depressed after thumb surgery.

Oh, hello there. You're here. Welcome!
That is a very classy watch indeed. I don't know much about them but I always wear a very thin but also cheap Fossil with a blue face my grandfather gave me last Christmas. It does what I ask of it and doesn't get in the way. I really prefer leather bands though.
-
I like it! Too rich for my academic blood, but I’m admiring it from afar.
-
@chariotoflove purchased with the blood of my defeated enemies.
-
@immoralminority lovely watch indeed

It's very subjective. I am firmly in the metal bracelet camp. I wear them loose, so leather doesn't work for me.
-
@immoralminority I like them tight so metal bands would pinch my arm hair. It is very subjective.
Though my arm is also really skinny so it has a lot more room to move about when it's loose. -

Haha! I don’t doubt it.
-
@ImmoralMinority New or used? Only reason I ask is because font on the bezel looks a lot like my Breitling, from 1990.
-
@e90m3 new model that is a throwback dedign

Lol!
-
@immoralminority Ah, makes sense. I had seen they had released a new version of the Top Time, but hadn't extensively gone through their new offerings.
-
@immoralminority bought my first Swiss automatic over the summer, a Zodiac Sea Dragon. Black face, black leather band. Wanna find a metal bracelet for it.
-
Never wear it because I don't like watches (or rings).
-
@haveacarortwoorthree that is the type I lost, but mine had a metal bracelet
-
@immoralminority Right there with you! My sweat does nasty things to leather bands in short order. Both of my leather-banded watches are restricted to fair-weather and inside duty only.
-
@ImmoralMinority Looks quite classy, like old-money class. I'm also a fan of metal bands (
). I've been slacking on my watch game since work-from-home started and I need to get back into the saddle.
-
@whoistheleader I used to hate metal bands because of constantly getting my arm hair caught. Then I got my Seiko chrono, with a metal band. I'd specifically requested it as a Christmas present, then immediately regretted it upon opening when I saw the band.
I eventually put it on as a courtesy, because the person who bought it for me was standing right there. I wore it for the rest of the afternoon, and was astounded that it never grabbed my arm hair. That was last Christmas, and I've worn it several times a week since. Never once has it pulled my arm hair.
I have a Casio Edifice that also has a metal-link band, which I bought around March. That watch pulled my arm hair once, but only once in that time.
My fear of mechanical bands came from my old Timex expanding-link watch and my Fossil mechanical link watch. I'd contend that the quality of the band is probably what determines whether a band will pull hair or not. And as a quick aside, both my Seiko and my Casio were purchased for less than $100 each.
-
@roundbadge I'd be willing to give it a try if I was buying another watch but I'm not. I won't rule it out but I like leather.
-
@whoistheleader Fair enough.
Admittedly, I like leather too. Just saying that I had sworn off metal watch bands at this time last year, and today my mind is more open to them.
