You know what? I won't miss Kinja.

This place has bugs, but it has a reason too. Being new & having growing pains. I'll like it here. I see this be the classic off topic Oppo, & drivetribe being the more "FP" style automotive centric Oppo. Maybe add "NSFW" category too., other then that so far I like this.

Exactly!

Kinja can eat a bag of ....

I find it hilarious that in less than 2 weeks we have a site that may arguably work better than Kinja.
I'm searching this place to find out where the blackjack tables and hookers are. They HAVE to be here somewhere... -

@the-crazy-kanuck @wacko Nibbles the server hamster may have to make a return.
-
@longtime-lurker Are you denying being Nibbles?
-
We'll see how this site holds up after it has a few thousand shit posts under its belt. But so far, it's definitely something to get used to but it's really, really good. Credit to @jminer and crew for putting this together so fast!

@the-crazy-kanuck Kinja wasn't even my real dad
-
I think this works better than Kinja already. Kinja was always bad, and seemed to only get worse.
Even until the ends, sometimes I couldn't enter a post title at all, and typing body would cause the cursor to jump to the start of the sentence mangling it. This was on mobile, but it wasn't as simple as choice of browser. For some things, Firefox was better, Chrome was better for others.
Kinja was almost unusable. -

You did not even have a dad, or a step dad, or a god father.

@nauraushaun
Time will tell. This place will experience very rapid growth in the coming days & will really test the coding. -
Man, I gotta be on two sites now?
-
@the-crazy-kanuck
You crazy canuck....
Believe it or not, back in the 2013 era when I was burning more time on kinjoppo, I would periodically post with my olde tyme smarte phonogramatical device, and could even navigate kinjoppo on it. In the past 5 years, however, the site became un-navigable or downright un-viewable with all of the ad bullshit and funky formatting which ironically wasn't mobile friendly in a world where more and more folks were surfing on their phones.
Here on the Hyphen, the code base is mobile friendly, and there are no ads thanks to the generosity of our community leaders and members alike.
I have been posting and replying (including this reply!) from mobile like the site was natively meant to work that way....
It just fucken works. There is your new motto....
"The Hyphen - it just f'n works."

There are some very, very nice features Kinja had. I know it was buggy at times, but it was remarkably powerful. Best CMS I’ve ever used.
The photo widget, setting aside the copyright hassles they put us through for the last several months, was fantastic. Text was very easy to read, flexible formatting.... just a very nice experience.
I for one will probably miss it for a long time to come.

If all the photos where from the same source you could have clicked "apply to all" & save doing it on each photo. Since Old Oppo is dead that's all irrelevant now.
-
@the-crazy-kanuck Yep, that was the saving grace. The first couple of weeks without that feature was miserable for photo-heavy content.

Yeah, @jminer showed us the traffic spike today after KinjOppo went down and it was massive, haha!
-
@the-crazy-kanuck I’ll miss a bunch of the old shit. A lot of good memories, great stuff people wrote, random shit like music I wanted to be reminded of. We made the best of the platform we had... but now we get to build anew. So, that’s pretty rad.

I got a bad feeling about this

@wacko I am open to blaming Kinja for all ills.
Or java script.
Because both are terrible beyond words.
