I Just Bought My Holy Grail Motorcycle Camper

So, as many at least one of you may remember, I spent a good part of 2022 looking for a lightweight camper I can tow around to concerts and music festivals - the idea being to spend a night or two on site in my own bed, instead of navigating unfamiliar and often twisty roads in the dark to get to the closest fleabag motel, that might be a half hour away from the venue.

I had settled on an A-Liner Alite 400 motorcycle camper, as it's pretty well the only completely hard-sided/hard-roofed motorcycle camper with standing height inside, and one of only a few models made by a major/mainstream camper manufacturer.

However, the Alite was not a popular model and they don't come up for sale often. I posted a "wanted" ad on a Facebook forum and got no response.

In the meantime, last Fall, I found a really neat vintage 1980s WestDan Roadster for sale in Michigan in my price range and picked that up. But, earlier this year, someone in New York responded to my old "want to buy" post, offering a 2010 Alite for $5,000.

As that's the one I wanted in the first place, I drove 6 hours up today to look at it - it's in fantastic shape, has a new battery and new wheel bearings, and even has the optional air conditioning package.

So, I bought it, and am now on my way back home, hope to be there before midnight.

Now, I just need to sell the other camper I bought and haven't even used yet, since I certainly don't need two of these.

@ranwhenparked What a fun quirky little camper. too bad they could put dormers on it to make the headroom a little more usable for 2 people, but if you are solo that should be a winner.

@Taylor-Martin I plan on putting a listing up later Sunday, start with Swappo and local Craigslist, see what happens. Would like to take some new photos of it set up, weather looks like it's a good day to wheel it out of the shed

@Just-Jeepin yeah, it's weird, the company was supposedly in business for like 10 years and made 4 different models, but they all seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth. You still see lots of other '70s and '80s motorcycle campers from defunct manufacturers crop up, but not those for some reason
