Anyone into March Madness?
-
I'm actually not big into basketball, but I enjoy March madness, at least for the first weekend when it's just chaos.
And boy has there been chaos.
First #4 Virginia goes down.
Then #2 Arizona goes down.
And then #1 Purdue goes down, being just the second #1 seed to lose in the first round. To be fair, Purdue shouldn't have been a 1 seed. Yeah, they were #1 in the nation part of the year but they had been fading, and they nearly lose to Penn St in the Big Ten championship.Xavier and Baylor had a scare as well.
It's always fun seeing little teams going up against blue bloods.
I have no idea who's going to win it. I haven't followed it that much this year. If I had to pick someone I would say Kansas, but I could also see Houston.

My wife had Arizona and Purdue going to the Final 4. With Purdue winning it all.
Needless to say, she's losing her work pool.
-
@FourMalibus Just enjoying the chaos since my bracket is blown to smithereens. My school is still in but I’m not expecting much this year.
-
@FourMalibus As a life-long IU basketball fan (and brief Purdue student) all I have to say is...
-
@FourMalibus I thought Virginia was going to go pretty far, but hadn't done a bracket, which would now be busted. Maybe next year.
-
@Just-Jeepin I'm not a Purdue fan. I'm actually a Michigan fan (NIT wooo!), but I do try to follow and root for the Big Ten in March.

Purdue going to the Final 4
Uh, has she watched them play the last month?
-
@FourMalibus Nelson is laughing at Purdue, not you.
-
@FourMalibus Going for Duke (my wife's alumni). Princeton dunking on Arizona was fucking hilarious.
-
@FourMalibus She believed it was just an end of season trip and they'd come back strong in the Tourney...
To be fair, she's a bit of a Big 10 simp.
-
@FourMalibus as a life long Purdue fan and grad, I don’t want to talk about it.
From Reddit:
So in summary Purdue just lost to a team that is:
- Ranked Above 300 in Kenpom the whole year
- Didn't win their conference tournament
- Didn't win their conference regular season title either
- is in the NEC which ranks 32/32 for D1 conferences in the country in kenpom
- Went 4-22 Last year
- A first year coach that transitioned from D2
- Average height of players is 6'1"
- Ranked 359 in Defense in Kenpom
And they only got into the tournament because they made it to their Conference finals as their opponent (Merrimack) was not eligible to make the NCAAT because of the 4 year transition period rule. They also finished Runner-up in their conference during the regular season.

Too many Purdue fans on Oppo to talk about basketball right now.
Also, Ohio and New Jersey is not a good combination
-
@ForSweden Ohio + New Jersey = Pennsyltuckey (West Virginia)
-
@ForSweden the two worst states!
-
@FourMalibus Was really pulling for the home team, but looks like they're not doing so hot against IU at the moment.
-
@Roundbadge I like that shirt.
-
I am not a fan of basketball in general, but I will watch college basketball, and I really enjoy the NCAA tournament. Every game is one-and-done, and upsets are rife.
Also, the odds of getting a bracket completely correct:
1 in 9,223,372,036,854,775,808 (if you just guess or flip a coin)
1 in 120.2 billion (if you know a little something about basketball)
-
@FourMalibus nope
