Fine fine
My forearms felt that one...
-
@t0ast you win the internet today, sir. With typing skills like that, you could be a court transcriber.
-
@t0ast GG
Looks like you're the only person who's getting triple digits on the long boy -
@aremmes Hmmm...what OS is that? I don't recognize that title-bar theme? Guessing Linux maybe?

It's Devuan (a Debรญan without systemd) running XFCE with a CDE-like theme.
-
@aremmes Thought it was Linux-something, haha!
-
@atfsgeoff I only did a minute and got this
I thought I was a decent typer, but good God some of you must just sit as home and do nothing but type
EDIT: Second try
-
I use these, along with a PS/2 to USB adapter:

It is!
Like skinning a cat, there's more than one way to Linux.
-
@DDaD Take a few keys off and you could end up with a chord keyboard.
-
@aremmes There is a highly optimized layout called ASETNIOP, which is just one step away from a stenography board. WR typing speed on this is only about 100 wpm though

The missus uses one of those. Too big for my desk, and not mechanical key switches so not an option for me.
If I wasn't wanting to go back to mechanical switches (and the IBM Model M Space Saving Keyboard being basically unobtanium ...
... then I would just stay with the Apple Magic Keyboard.I do regret getting rid of my Model M Space Saver years ago, but my blue Keychron Q10 has nice feel to the keyswitches and is about as heave as the old Model M - so stays planted on the desk quite nicely.
I got the Alice (split) configuration to try and improve my touch typing, and it should be a little easier on my wrists. And I like this colour option and just for fun
-
@liam I'm really stoked that keychron is trying to bring the alice/arisu layout to more mainstream stuff. You don't get a ton of keys for how much desk space it takes up, but they feel great, especially if it's tented. Great middle ground between row stagger and some of the more extreme column stagger or ergo layouts
-
@DDaD The one I have isn't tented, and has more keys than I want (that column of M1 - M5 keys on the left are just taking up space). I have yet to use the pgup, pgdn and home keys on the right too.
I do like the knob on the left though - twist it for volume up and down and press for mute.

This is sadism.
I made it 5 mins in before quitting...
Here's one minute:
Looking forward to making my kids try this.
Mrs. addiction will kick my ass.

Yeah it certainly feels longer than 10 minutes while manically typing. Gives a glimpse into the life of a 1960s secretary who spent hours every day just typing away on an IBM Selectric.
