I had to use this to get to the story https://archive.ph/ 12ft ladder didn't even work.

This kind of thing really helped us when we were in the outback at Uluru. The busses couldn't get across a road that was washed out, but Land Cruisers could get across so we had Uluru practically to ourselves. I think there was less than ten people out there in the rain. The ranger out there said we were lucky to see Uluru with water pouring down it, like 1%. It turned purple and little pools and waterfalls were all over it. The water was deep in some spots so we ended up walking barefoot around the whole thing.

The paywall came down on me....

But yeah...the utter demolition of the Fitzroy River Bridge and its approaches at Fitzroy Crossing due to the recent record floods (2 metres or 6' 8" over the previous record height!) has made access across the Kimberley region tricky. Doesn't also help that most other roads across the lower Fitzroy and West Kimberley were damaged or destroyed in kilometres long chunks...

It could be a few years before it's all sorted given the vagaries of the Wet Season (November to March).

Approaching hedges arse first...for quite some time
