Next gen Tacoma design leaked
-
@EssExTee very next gen. Tnga f is a whole new ball of wax. fully boxed frame, discs all around, coil springs rear, etc.
-
@KngT Thankfully (?) it doesn't look as stupid as the Tundra. Turbo fours only is a bummer.
-
chances of the 6MT living on? 10%? 5%? 0%?

Discs all around?!?!?! Good lord is it 2004 already!!
J/k If Tacoma's had full 4wd I probably would have bought one when I got my truck.
-
@blacktruck18 full 4wd? oh, 4 wheel discs. Meh. I think its overplayed how much that matters to be honest. My buddy thrashes his 2nd gen and has no problems with brake performance on and off-road.
-
@pickup_man Came for this, was no disappointed
-
@KngT Im excited for the next gen, but I hope they raise the greenhouse a little. I also hope they don't lower the sills. I understand that raising the greenhouse is a big MPG killer, but lowering the sills is an off-road killer. Looks like they haven't done either, which...is annoying, but if they had to pick one of the two to keep it would have been the high sills and it appears they still have frame below body...which is good and right. It's also super clear that this will have 5 link rear. EXCELLENT.
The powertrains are going to be epic.
-
@HammerheadFistpunch I meant full time 4WD. I don't get why Toyota doesn't doesn't offer that on all of their trucks and SUV's. It makes driving in shitty weather so much easier.
-
@blacktruck18 ah. Yeah, they could easily put in the VF4 transfer case in the limited. It would certainly make it unique. I think one of the reasons they never did was because of the way the rear axle moves around with leafs in adding driveline shunt. With a 5 link, there shouldn't be any reason you couldn't. Of course you could find a wrecked GX and steal their VF4 T-case and you would be set, you would just have to have custom driveshafts and disable the front automatic front axle disconnect.

@lokerola better than 0%!
-
Proportionally speaking, the box looks much smaller. Even though it's probably the same length. Hopefully.
-
I don't hate it.
-
@KITT222 Chevy wants their wheel wells back
-
@HammerheadFistpunch I've heard the 2GR is staying. But a mild hybrid 4 popper is the way to go.
-
@KngT Neat, but this makes me feel that we won't get the smaller cab and manual transmission anymore.
-
@EssExTee Save a complete redesign outside of the Toyota design language, what would the expectations be? It's still going to be a pickup truck with the engine in front, passengers on the middle and the bed in back. It's going to, in the end, look like a Toyota pickup.
-
@KITT222 The rumors are that it's on a new platform but man, that cab is telling me it's on the same chassis with a heavy update, ala the 2016 compared to the previous years.
