In less than 24 hours, our car is done. Now it just needs to get to the dealer so we can pick it up. Guess we really do need to get the Corolla listed for sale soon.
-
@e90m3 prob take several weeks to get to the dealer now
-
@pip-bip Nah, it should be a lot faster than that.
-
@e90m3 i'll put $10 on it.
-
@e90m3 no sell, only buy!
-
@e90m3 jeez just go get it yourself
-
@Qaaaaa They won't let me, otherwise I would.
-
@e90m3 This is 2023, it will probably sink on a transport ship in the middle of the Pacific
/congrats
-
@Tekamul Luckily, it doesn't have to cross any oceans. In fact, it barely has to leave the county it was made in to get to the dealer.
-
@e90m3 WAT? NO FAKKING WAY! SAAAAAAWWEEEEEETTT!
-
@e90m3 nice! Oppo review when?
-
@KngT We have to get it first, then want to drive it a little and get out of the honeymoon phase.
-
@e90m3 What are the options on it? I might have missed the posts, saw some things about a green NX that didnt work out.
-
@e90m3 yeah but what if they take the long route
-
This is how we speced it. The green NX wasn't well equipped and Lexus wants you to feel like a Toyota customer, so they won't let you spec the car; you get what you get and you'll like it. Being able to get everything we wanted, the finance rate, the fact it's made here, were all reasons we went X3 over NX.
-
@tysmagic I have seen them loading a 747 with BMWs before, so maybe they'll do some around the world shit before I get it.

You've heard of exotic European delivery vacations. Now introducing the ultimate in Carolina Delivery adventures!
-
@e90m3 Congrats, I hope it arrives quickly. Overall, it seems like it's been a fairly quick process for a custom order. Kudos to BMW. Meanwhile at Ford...you want a heated steering wheel for your Bronco? Good luck, you're looking at 2024.
-
@Huzer We'll see how long transport actually takes, but if we get it Friday it'd be 31 days from order. Either BMW has their shit together or Ford doesn't care, that seems a bit outrageous. I know you couldn't get a motion opened tailgate on the 2022 X3, or some of them, due to chip shortage, but it's back now.
-
I've joked about local pickup a lot, but still wish it was a thing...
I wouldn't be surprised if they loaded it on a trail to Charlotte, got it off, put it on a car carrier, drove it to Columbia for a few days, then had some Jimbo put it on his gooseneck F-350 to bring it up to Greenville
Gotta play some musical chairs so they can justify that destination fee.
-
@ash78 I really wanted to pick it up, but they're apparently not doing factory delivery anymore.

That's a shame...my dad's best friend flew up from FL and picked up his brand new E39 (circa 2002) and got a free half-day performance driving class out of the deal.
Seems like these days with everyone paying MSRP (or close), the manufacturers have a great opportunity to bypass dealers and create a lot of brand value with consumers.
I'm sure some dealer group and lobbyists are working behind the scenes to prevent this somehow.
-
@WhoIsTheLeader Is it true that if you do factory pickup they let you personally fire a pro-union worker?
-
@ash78 I believe I might still get a driving school thrown in, the dealer wasn't sure if they were going to continue it over from 2022. So hoping that I get to partake, as it really is only 15-20 mins from my house.
-
@e90m3 That's how I feel about the Porsche driving experience over here at Barber Motorsports...unfortunately, ~$1,500 for the entry level 1-day class isn't too attainable
I also feel a bit like HDPE classes are like heroin. I won't be able to quit!
Edit: Should be "HPDE" but I will always have high-density polyethylene etched into my brain Because Nerd.
