Want to feel old?

Wanna feel even more old? Ever put some quarters in one of these?
-
@Manwich
I used this...
...when it was new. -
@Demon-Xanth I used one of those with my
AtariSears Tele-Games on a portable Gold Star black-and-white TV because my dad refused to let me put it on the color TV in the family room.Then he discovered Tetris and suddenly the Nintendo was allowed in the family room...but that's IT. Then I had to go cut the grass.
-
Mine hit a few years back when 9/11 became closer to my birth than it is to the current date.

I didn't have to put quarters in, I owned one.
Not mine, but it was this one. When the game started, it played the first few bars of "Miss You." It was awesome.Back on topic, no, I don't want to feel old. It's just what I do.

I was 4. I absolutely loved that movie growing up and I remember playing the video game at the arcade all the time!

Yeah, I just looked that up. Apparently the last crusade was not.
I'm only half joking when I say I'm impressed The Last Crusade hasn't been renamed since its release due to potential offensiveness. I guess several centuries is enough time to wait to bring something back up again.
Anyone remember the Diet Coke Super Bowl ad that used the old Knight Templar guy with "You have chosen wisely"? Pepperidge Farm remembers!

@Demon-Xanth Hey now ! I just got a (functioning) Atari 2600 but need something to connect it to a TV/monitor ... do they make a "switch box" like that with modern-ish connections ?

@MybirdIStheword I'm not one for remakes, but I did think it would have been fun symmetry to have redone BTTF in the 2010s. The original movie depicted the present day of the 1980s as a depressing, gritty, dirty, era, 30 years in the past (1950s) as a shiny, clean, idealized, semi-utopia, and 30 years in the future (2010s) as a highly advanced society with a very high level of new technical advancement (dehydrated pizzas, flying cars, hover boards, hovering back braces, self-sustaining fruit gardens hidden in ceilings, advanced stem cell skin rejuvenation, etc).
What would it have been like if the present day of the 2010s was given the same, cynical treatment as the 1980s, and it was the 1980s that were depicted in the shiny, clean, idealized manner, instead of the 1950s? Also, you could have re-used the President joke, Ronald Reagan was a non-politician celebrity in 1955 who wound up President in 1985 - which non-politician celebrity in, say, 1987, wound up President in 2017?
That joke wouldn't work if they did the movie now, because our current President literally did run for President in the 1980s, it wouldn't seem far fetched to people back then that he eventually won.

Oh yeah? Well I used one of these:
With a Commodore PET.And when I was in university and worked part-time as a computer operator, I had to use one of these a few times:
On a DEC VAX 6600. -
@davesaddiction I just go for a run whenever I want to feel old
-
@Manwich I had a C64 with that....you got me there.

@ranwhenparked
"Joe Biden is president"
"...oh. I was expecting something stranger."
"He's in his late 80s. Beating the incumbent Donald Trump."
"....oh. There we go." -

"....oh. There we go."This past decade really is like waking up from some kind of late 80s fever dream. Well played.

@MybirdIStheword oh, and we're in the middle of a bloody proxy war with Russia

Tanks for reminding me...
