Want to feel old?

The release date of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is closer to WWII than it is to today.
I was six.
Oppowhippersnappers - fess up if you've never seen it!
Or worse, if you've never even heard of it.
-
@davesaddiction The Temple of doom is the new one
-
@davesaddiction I'm 35 and I feel like it was an "old movie" when I watched them with my dad when I was ~10?

And they never made one after.....
-
@WasGTIthenGTOthenNOVAthenGTInowA4
Yeah, I just looked that up. Apparently the last crusade was not.
-
@davesaddiction Also, the 2002 US invasion of Afghanistan is further in the past now than the 1973 withdrawal from Vietnam was when the Simpsons started, and Principal Skinner is a Vietnam veteran
-
...and the Second to Last Crusade.
-
@davesaddiction to make you feel older: that movie was made 12 years before I was born, and I am a fully functioning adult
-
@davesaddiction seent it.....i was one when it came out tho
-
-
Yeah, I know. I'm about to turn 45 (over the hill?
) and my oldest will have his driver's license very shortly.
AND he just beat me one-on-one in basketball for the first time ever.
He beat me in MarioKart when he was 8.
Time waits for no man.
-
@MasterMario okay, harsh, but not unreasonable

I was six.Sean Connery was 59 when he played Indiana Jones' father in "The Last Crusade". I'm only three years of from that mark. Harrison Ford is 80 now with another film in the series being released.
Any you think you feel old!
-
I have 3 older brothers that are 9, 11 & 13 years older.
I was mentioning in another thread that I had a lot of their hand-me-down toys, including a headless Han Solo that I'd zoom around in my banged-up yellow Tron lightcycle.
-
@Roadkilled yeah, Ford was only 12 years younger than the guy playing his dad
-
They killed Han. Think they'll kill Indy?
-
-
@davesaddiction I was 13, now get off my lawn before I call your parents, junior!
-
@davesaddiction what ?!? No, it's getting ridiculous, it's time to let go, Indy is too old for that sh&t.
-
@davesaddiction Darn kids..
Get off my lawn, I was 26 when that movie was released. -
@davesaddiction Let me pull up a 12 year old comic:
Though the one that really got me was a post from his blog (from 2012):
The first Star Trek episode aired closer in time to the ratification of the 19th Amendment—guaranteeing women in the US the right to vote—than to today.
-
I think I've seen it twice...as opposed to the hundreds of times I've watched Raiders of the Lost Ark, which is one of my favorite films of all time.
-
It's face-meltingly good!
-
It's not the years, honey, it's the miles.
If we're playing timeline trivia, I think this is the year Raiders of the Lost Ark is the same distance from us as it was from the end of WW2.
(Stop by the Oakland Aviation Museum some time and you can see—or, on a Sunday, tour—the Shorts Solents that, with some Hollywood magic, served as a Pan Am Clipper for purposes of the movie.)

@davesaddiction My friends dad worked at ILM through the 80s and 90s, his resume is pretty awesome.
