This thing is awful, PT Cruisers continue their assault on our senses
-
They could make the wood but the rest must be a kit. They used some bits from a real one? I am trying to study this but I'm going blind.
-
@415s30 I actually like it!
-
@415s30 I like it!
-
All that effort and still the stock wheels?!?!
-
@Exage03040 I know, it has a PT Cruiser windshield and plastic mirrors, the wheels are a major problem. You know the interior is just crappy plastic.
-
@415s30 Yes, it looks like a fun mod.
But, if you have a ziplock baggy of toenail clippings collected from American truckstop showers, then you grind them into a flour and use them to bake a fantastic cake,
you still have a cake made with toenails.
This poor old man spent time and treasure on making a toenail cake.

I don't hate it...
-
@415s30 -- Facial expressions suggest some marital disagreement on how cool this car is.
I... don't hate it, actually, though I am trying to imagine how it might look without the wood. And with baby moons on steelies.

@Ad-absurdum-per-aspera Well I sure as hell wouldn't drive that to a meet with a bunch of real ones in SoCal.
-
I'd drive that before a crown vic or a miata

Gotta be honest, I think the only reason to have a meet for PT Cruisers is if they’re heavily modified.
-
@Just-Jeepin Well this guy seems to have driven it from AZ to SoCal and is pulling up to some old school surfers at a beach car meet.
-
I came across this from 2003.

@415s30 aren't the real Town & Countries from the '40s worth pretty serious money now? I can't imagine cutting one up like that, unless it was in really bad, unrestorable condition, but, then, it would be a terrible base for a custom.
Maybe they started with a non-T&C 46/47/48 Chrysler and fabbed the wood from scratch, since all they really needed was the front clip
I mean, it really isn't that bad, but keeping the stock PT Cruiser interior is kind of a let down, '40s Chryslers had some really beautiful Art Deco design inside
-
@415s30 High level boomering there. I like it more than the Frankenstein Corvette conversions anyway, or the 90s Birds with shoebox or mid 50s Ford front ends.
-
@fintail Yeah those might be worse, peak boomer
-
@ranwhenparked Yeah I was trying to figure out if the hood etc was from something real and then they put a badge on it.
-
@415s30 Oh, they definitely used some parts from a real postwar Chrysler, that would be a stupid amount of custom fabrication otherwise
-
@ranwhenparked The real ones are worth a fortune, there is a wagon they always bring to our SF Auto Show from the Academy of Art collection and it is stunning. They must have had a rusted out car or parts in AZ, I went to college in AZ and back in the early 90's there were fields full of old cars outside the cities along the highway.
-
@415s30 They're stunning, I really want a 46/7/8 Chrysler someday - not a high dollar T&C, I'd be happy with a Windsor club coupe, or suicide door sedan with a straight six and Fluid Drive.
-
Should be linked correctly to start at 3:30 but just watch until the PT is mentioned in a few seconds lol one of my favorite lines
-
@ranwhenparked They bring this one with barn doors to the show every year. I always stand there and drool at it.
-
@415s30 They were really ahead of their time with a sedan-styled wagon, what with coupe-CUVs being so popular now
