DT's CEO's thoughts on The Hyphen
-
-
@davesaddiction Eminently reasonable. Well said.
-
Extremely.
-
That is a good take. I'm glad DT has such a reasonable dude at the controls.
-
*Basks in the dull glow of a terrible name that has really stuck! Really makes me smile!
I've been keeping my wife sort of up to date on what is going on. She has a similar, Discord based friend group so she gets it... I told her, "you're not going to be surprised here, but guess who accidentally named the new carsiteblogthing?"
Her: "Hah, wha'd you call it?"
Me: Explains how I landed on "Hyphen"
Her: "You've got to be more careful with your talents"
-
@tripper LOL
-
@tripper I like the nickname, although I wonder if we will move away from it in time, when this (or similar) is the One and Only Oppositelock.
-
excellent!...I can really see synergy between the two. DT can be like our Insta.
-
@limitedtimeonly I think the plan is eventually to have this under oppositelock.com, but we'll see.
-
@classicdatsundebate Our public relations/recruiting arm.
-
@limitedtimeonly I don't dislike it I just know I could have done better. Still honored, truly.
I always thought of it as "Oppositelock - The Hyphen/Hyphen Edish/etc..." I figured it would stick around while we had to differentiate between multiple formats and then maybe fall off to be just "Oppositelock" again. Science and nature will now decide if it stays or goes.
-
I think DT and Oppo can have a Jalopnik/Oppo type relationship. We can use Oppo to drive traffic to DT and DT to drive traffic to Opposite-lock. Hell if we can get this shitbox off the ground, DT could be an investor (just spit ball'n here)

@davesaddiction I think Morris' take on us having a bespoke home at the Hyphen is correct. It allows us to do what we want (which was a constant problem at the OG site, for them, not us). And having their support there and potentially even cross post for the BEST of the BEST article grade material is nice to hear. Hopefully DT can be a source of members for the Hyphen. We will always have attrition as people have lives to live, and will drop off, leave, change hobbies, interests etc. It's nice to see a supportive management. I may post over there. But I doubt I'll produce anything worthy. I'll likely mostly lurk and comment.
The Hyphen is my home now.
Oppo Never Dies!
HAIL!
-
This is the best we could hope for the. We’ll be able to work together once we figure out the particulars.
-
@sn4cktimes Yes, exactly. Mutually beneficial relationship.
-
These guys are great - their CEO reached out on Friday to express his support for us and even kicked some cash in to help with dev and costs. I'm suitably impressed and think we'll have a solid relationship with them.
-
@jminer DUDE! Awesome.
-
@davesaddiction said in DT's CEO's thoughts on The Hyphen:

This will lead to a new generation of "old timers" who remember the Great Migration to The Hyphen and the fabled Before Times.
God I love this editor.
-
@jminer That's fantastic. I guess DT is my new go to morning coffee car related reading.
-
I like Drive Tribe too, not much of a fan of Top Gear as others, but it's not plastered all over Drive Tribe.
The interface is a bit overwhelming, as here it is simple. Not much room for expansion as all this site is just Opposite-lock, and not a blog from many other blogs likekinjaand drive tribe is. -
part of me really wants to hate DT just because it's different to what I'm used to but I just can't because it's a very well run business with people who care it seems, one day I might get involved over there and start getting car news from them (I assume they have new car info on there like Jalopnik would)
-
Hear that, ladies and gents? We are bespoke!
-
'Generic mush' is perfect for describing the big 3 (really 2) social media sites.
-
@nth256 damn that is a great image!
-
@sn4cktimes Right?! Google nailed my search this time!
