It rained

I moved some stuff into my storage unit. Unfortunately this meant driving through some farmland after the overnight rain. Just one drive and my whole car is brown! At least this storage unit is nice and spacious for $100 a month.
Five foot by Ten foot with lots of vertical space so it should fit everything easily while also having space to access things. -
@wrong-wheel-drive That seems expensive for the space to me. Or is everything just more expensive in SoCal? I'm rather curious as to how often it rains out there.

Its definitely things being expensive here. The only way I could get cheaper would be a smaller unit (5x5) and the cheapest I have seen that go for was $85. Half the size for $15 didnt seem worth the savings. I could probably fit in that but I would have to move things every time I want to get something in and out.
And yeah rain is really rare depending on the year. It rained once in December but otherwise hadnt rained since April.

@wrong-wheel-drive By the standards of the rest of the country, that storage locker for that price is rather steep. Not that I've ever shopped for one, but I've seen much much lower prices advertised for much larger units. Also, I kind of like the occasional rain.

You should find a friend the lives in an apartment complex that rents garages. I know it's been a while since I lived in California, but I was only $75 a month for a garage at my last apartment when I moved out in November 2012.

Well considering my SUPER CHEAP room for rent that I am moving to is $975, space rental sure is damn expensive here. My current rent with 6 roommates is $1200. A cheap house costs $600k. SO yeah pricey and not worth it long term lol.

I know at my last apartment it was small units (smaller than this) for around $110 per month. Plus none were available because it was super limited and poorly managed. I'm sure its possible but I really doubt it would be much cheaper in my area. Ive seen a few services that rent space similar to how airbnb does for houses but they werent plentiful. Either way its a fine enough start for now.

@wrong-wheel-drive $975 for a room isn't terrible these days... A nice studio in my town is $1,600. No parking, either.

@wrong-wheel-drive It salted here. The back of my car is basically bure white (it's a silver car). Driving ~200 miles tomorrow, so no point in cleaning it now, but will have to run it through the wash on Monday or something.

Before we bought our house, we were paying $100/month for one parking spot in the garage at our apartment. No walls or anything to separate the spots (unless you were unlucky enough to have a pillar in your spot to make parking extra difficult), just a stall in an open garage on the first floor of the building.

Damn that is steep! I was paying $110/month for two cars at my old place. And technically that was cars #2 and #3 since the first one was free.
