In Search of Adventure - Oregon Edition
-
Desolate beaches stretching for miles, unblemished mountain-tops begging to be explored, terrifying scrambles up granite, clay, and sand—an insatiable thirst for adventure shooting pure adrenaline through your very being, denying even the slightest possibility of turning back. From elk to eagles to picturesque sunsets—mother nature rewarded the explorers richly as they journeyed across the coast.
A coast that seemingly went on forever.
Long hours on the road were spent debating the strengths of investments. From bitcoin's atmospheric rise and subsequent fall, to property management across a vast array of different markets worldwide. Those hours allowed for an organic deep dive into the intricacies of achieving financial freedom. What do you want your life to look like? What are you actively doing to achieve that life? What is your timeline? How are you setting up passive income? In what ways have you found success in the midst of a pandemic that has fundamentally changed the way we'll work forever?
Bouncing ideas back and forth and sharing insights gained from walking different paths was a real highlight of a trip that was nothing but highlights.
And the food. Good God, the food. Fully-dressed Dungeness Crab caught but a few miles away. Smoked ribeye, the quality of the dish matched only by that of the conversation—compliments to the owners of the diner. Cod, salmon, halibut, rockfish—fried, fileted, breaded, served raw. Enough local beer to sink a battalion matched perfectly with an ever-flowing supply of fine aged cheeses...
Oregon, thanks for the great time. See you soon.

@aestheticsinmotion Did you get a chance to visit the Spruce Goose?
-
@aestheticsinmotion Dang, that looks awesome. Congrats on the good time. And those photos are fantastic. The third one really caught my eye.

Unfortunately, no. We passed a few air hangers though!

Thanks! I tried to get some interesting shots, but honestly with the areas I was in, it's hard to get a bad photo.

Way to make a guy jealous, damn.
-
Thanks for sharing. I have pictures of some of the same locations from my trips to the coast!
-
You're clearly doing it right, my friend.

@aestheticsinmotion Did you see any pirate ships?
Passive income plan: inherit property or be in an area where ordinary people can buy it.

I see that your hiking buddy has upgraded shoes but is still going with hiking in jeans, although this isnt scaling a snow mountain at least! Looks like fun, I've gotta make another trip to Oregon and explore someplace other than Portland and the immediate surroundings.
-
@aestheticsinmotion Looks like a great trip! There are some killer spots in eastern Oregon as well. Certain parts are reminiscent of Switzerland. I road tripped across the state through the Columbia River Gorge a few years ago, right before some tweens burnt the place down. Yay people!

@aestheticsinmotion When I saw the title, the only thing that popped in my head was...
-
@aestheticsinmotion Go to McMinnville, spend a day at Evergreen museum, then go across the street and get you some seat time in a helicopter at Jerry Trimble helicopters. Best couple hundred bucks you can spend.

I saw two shipwrecks! Who they belonged to I could not say...
Buying out-of-state is looking more and more like the best option for me. It's figuring out a way to manage that successfully while working out of Washington that I'm still working on.

Ha! Yes, I was pretty happy he upgraded the footwear at least! Baby steps...
We were planning on spending time in Portland, but every time we had a chance to head inland... We just couldn't. Too much excitement on the coast.

I spent a few days in Salem on a business trip, but that's about it as far as the central or eastern part of the state. I'm hoping to check it out next time. Speaking of people, between covid and winter, I've never enjoyed traveling more. The rare travelers we met were the type of people you can enjoy swapping stories over a beer with.

My Lactose-intolerant friend ate about two pounds of cheese, so I'd say he was close to death

Adding to the list! Helicopter time, nighttime snowshoeing, crater lake hike, hot springs.... Still so much that we didn't get to

@aestheticsinmotion One Eyed Willy?
You can still do it in WA, but you'll be buying around Aberdeen or Moses Lake or something. Spokane still has some deals, I think, but one needs to get in within the next 5 years or so, if current trends continue. I think I am living in Seattle, in 1980.

@aestheticsinmotion Was the second last picture in Lincoln City? That looks like Chinook Winds, we stay there every trip. This place has burned its way into our hearts. They treated us like gold, and have remembered us every time we’re there. 10/10 would recommend.

@aestheticsinmotion As per your inquiry about passive income and the thoughts of real estate that go with it: SPOKANE! My whole life I thought it was a dirty industrial city like Calgary, but its so much more than matress stores and dealerships on Division and Sprague! Its actually a really nice city, quite beautiful. The biggest thing is houses though. If we sold our house here, we could get a 5500 sq ft 5 car garage mansion on a few acres in Spokane. Its like their houses ate still priced from 1985!
