Speaking of loud, I always wondered what it would have been like to sit in the passenger compartment of the Northrop Alpha, sandwiched between that big old P&W R-1340 in front and a giant tank of gas behind.

@looseonexit I would also add, expanding on the bit about carrying passengers instead of mail, that the first paying aircraft passenger made the flight sitting on a sack of mail.
