This bike followed me home today, a 2015 Scott Speedster 20. It's a pretty basic aluminum frame/carbon fork/105 groupset road bike with a pretty comfy endurance-type cockpit setup. The is makes bike number 4, to go with my carbon Trek Stache mountain bike, my Salsa Journeyman gravel bike and my properly racey State fixie. I don't feel like I have a problem yet, simply because all four are radically different bikes that do completely different things.
It fills the hole in my fleet for a proper road bike for doing the occasional weekend road ride long enough to make me want brakes and gears, all while being way faster than my gravel bike on pavement. This one also cost a fraction of the new carbon road bikes I've been eyeing. It popped up on local bike buy/sell marketplace group and caught my eye as being a reasonably priced, mid-range-ish modern road bike in my size (54 cm). I met the seller (who turns out to have a bunch of mutual biking friends in common) half-way between Las Cruces and El Paso after work. It rode better than I expected on the test ride, so money was exchanged and it followed me home. It cleaned up nicely this evening, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it is already setup tubeless. The carbon seat post is also nice touch, although it will probably get replaced with something else. It has a bunch of offset, and the saddle slammed forward is an only just acceptable position for me.
The bike has wear marks from being carried around in rack behind a car, but the braking surface on the rims is almost pristine. From what I can tell this bike spent many more miles being carried on the back of a car than it did being ridden.
There's some adjustment to be done and some fitting (I haven't touched a thing on the saddle or bars) and swapping the pedals out for ones from another bike that I actually have cleats for, but I'm looking forward to some road riding this weekend.

Nice. And I can appreciate the preference for comfort. I have six bikes and am planning to get a high end mountain bike at some point. So no, I do not believe you have a problem. Yet.
Have you noticed used bike prices as being higher than usual? Like maybe a pandemic effect?

Yes, although there is starting to be some used bike inventory again down here. I see folks buying bikes for probably 25-50 percent more than they should be worth, simply because any even moderately okay bike for sale gets snapped up almost instantly. New bikes basically don't exist down here anymore. Anything under 5 grand that comes in stock at the lbs usually is sold the same day. I jumped on this bike when it popped up for $600 and was my size.

@ita97 Nice find!

@ita97 very nice looking bike!

@ita97 you did well. Very well. I would suggest you keep an eye out for some decent wheels from here on in. They will transform this bike in particular. I once had a Scott CX frame that benefited greatly from an AU$300 wheelset from Fulcrum. These days I ride custom made wheels using relatively basic components, just well put together...

But Di2 is redundant technology now anyway...

@ita97 It's 3:45 am and if it's still not raining outside, I'm going for my ride. My ride is more upright than what you've posted.
-
@rusty-vandura Nice!
This bike is actually a lot more upright than my fixie. The fixie turned out to be properly racey. On that bike you merely think about turning and it darts off in that direction. The position and bike are constantly whispering in your ear as you ride, "Come on fucker. Do it. You know you want to. Sprint. Sprint now!". It is wicked fun, but after about 20-25 miles it makes you want something more relaxed. -
@silentbutnotreallydeadly That is likely in the cards at some point. Right now I'm in the middle of fancying up the old-school track wheelset on my fixie. Hopefully the shop will be done re-lacing the front wheel today. The purchase of the new bike has probably delayed the buying of a fancy hub for the rear wheel on the fixie.

Good score on the Scott. For the price seems very clean, especially how COVID has blown up bike prices and everything bike related.

I have 17, and its still not enough. I still need a road bike, a cruiser, a gravel, and a bmx. I do not have a problem, so you are safe.

I'm going the other way...I used to have about a dozen, but now I'm down to a road, mountain, and single speed. I don't ride as much as I used to (or want to), so I can't justify all of the space and cost.

It's not a stray, that looks like mine. I'll offer you a $50 reward for him.

@trivet Well, to be fair I inherited 4 norco’s and a stinky, and besides my epic and devinci, the rest are so old they just kinda hang around in the garage. So cost isn’t and hasn’t been very high considering the volume, and I’ve only ever sold 1 bike. So its literally been 30+ years of bikes.

Love the livery. hopefully by the end of this month i'll be the owner of a 2021 Trek Roscoe. Really was trying to find a used Full Stache but my budget wont allow it hahaha
