Hyphen Paper Punching

First trigger-time post on Hyphen??
Not the greatest groups with the GP100, but I'm getting more consistent. As usual, the 10/22 is a surgical instrument.
I'm particularly happy with this group I shot at 12 yards, double action off-hand:
And I took my new 627 that I got in trade last week out, it's been a decade since I've fired any .357 Mag, and my groups showed it.
Unfortunately .357 and .38 are quite expensive at the moment so I won't have the opportunity to hone my skills with that gun until I get a reloading setup going.
-
@atfsgeoff Nice! I actually sold all my reloading gear this last summer in the run up to move, in hindsight may not have been the best choice. Oh well.
-
I really like a 357, definitely on my short list for next time I get the itch to go pistol shopping.
Those are pretty good groupings all-around, even for the 627 being the first you've shot it or anything similar in quite a while.
-
@atfsgeoff Very nice! I had the opportunity to go shooting for the first time earlier this year, and enjoyed it quite a bit. The .22s were probably my favorite, at least as a complete novice. I fully understand why a lot of people think plinking is fun. The AK was fun though, too.
-
@mm54 Thanks, it's definitely a perishable skill and you something you can always improve upon. Reminds me a lot of motorcycle handling skills in that way.
-
@atfsgeoff Very shiny, that GP100.

Similar to 556/223? I just noticed they want like $1500 for a case of the cheap Russian stuff. I can't remember when I last bought a case but I think it was like $400.

That is really true for everything. I noticed that after not riding technical trails mtn biking for a while. And being out of my profession too.

@atfsgeoff I’ve never owned a gun. Shot a few but never owned my own. A few weeks ago L&M (like a smaller Manards/Home Depot) was having a bucket sale. Buy. 2 dollar bucket and anything that fits in the bucket is 15% off . I bought a bunch of tools, shop consumables, some hats and gloves, and nearly impulse bought a .22 Revolver. At just over 200 bucks it would have been like $65 off. That seemed like a good enough excuse to me. But my son looked at me a said “I don’t think mom would like that.” I knew he was right so I walked away Lol

That is hilarious! Your son keeps you in line!

@vincentmalamute Yes, EVERYTHING is expensive right now. Even reloading supplies and tools are scarce now. They will probably remain so for quite awhile, between the pandemic, another lockdown looming, and the incoming Biden Administration. Rightly or wrongly, guns are Americans' security blankets.
-
@atfsgeoff yup, the panic kicks in hard with a democrat in the office. Shelves will be empty for the next 6 months at least.
-
@vincentmalamute yup. He’s also great at reminding me to wear safety glasses, and not jump off of tall objects. He’s cautious like his mom, which is not a bad thing.
-
@atfsgeoff 20 yard groups that tight from a pistol? Respect.
-
@musashi66 Hey, where do you go shoot around here?
-
@vincentmalamute Pawnee! I have my own steel, I have a secluded spot, and I hate sharing ranges with people I don’t know.
I might re-join Galeton, as it’s 20-30 min closer to my house and they have individual bays.
-
Now that I have my RPAL and waiting on the paperwork... still deciding whether I should go ahead with pulling the trigger (pun intended) on buying the RIA 9mm.
Still shooting airsoft as of now... got some grip tape for my Open division Hi-Capa DOR today. Was terribly cut but I got lots of tape material so will be re-doing it.
-
Nice groups! I took my 1911 out last weekend for the first time in probably 5 years. I remembered quickly why I don't shoot it much... crap sights and kicks pretty hard. I'll stick with my Steyr L9A1 or custom Glock.
-
@musashi66 ugh, both of them are far from me. I'll use the local ranges for handguns and keep those in mind if I want to shoot rifles.
