I know most here hate automatic Corvettes...

But I can’t hear you over all the awesomeness in this picture. It has a blower AND side pipes!!
Guy says he’s selling it due to bad news which probably means something medical.I know, never buy someone else’s project, but if I had the money to blow on a toy I would seriously consider it. As you may have guessed I do not have $18000 to blow on a toy. I’m just determined to eventually own something with a ridiculous blower sticking out of the hood.
-
As a rule, anything with a big supercharger sticking out of the hood is cool. It could be a pink PT Cruiser convertible and still be cool if it has a supercharger sticking out of the hood. Superchargers simply command respect.
-
@kiltedpadre I’m not most, but I’m also not one for stuff sticking through the hood. Still, I wish him luck selling that for $18k.
-
@chariotoflove It's vulgar so I wouldn't like it on most cars, but that's exactly what a C3 is already, so it works here.
-
@facw I don’t think of it as vulgar. To me, it’s swoopy and graceful in the exaggerated style of the period.
-
@kiltedpadre CP!
-
@kiltedpadre I dig it, but there's no way a Disco-Vette is going to sell for $18k. They made so many of these, that they just aren't worth that much. The price he's asking reeks of the classic, "But I spent $xxxx on parts, so it's worth ..."
-
I love this era of corvette specifically because it is so ridiculous. Not sure I'd spend 18k on one with cracked heads and a blown trans but it does look amazing with that blower staring up at you

Agreed. The C3 has gorgeous lines and curves, this just interrupts the flow. But to each his own - I'm sure there are many that really like the look.
-
@kiltedpadre Unpopular opinion here, but strongly dislike stuff sticking out off the hood. The more extreme...the worse.
"Cool engine, too bad it doesn't fit in your car."
-A man wearing a flame suit
-
@tripper No need for the flame suit; everyone is welcome to a wrong opinion from time to time.
-
@awesomeaustinv That would be strange to see a supercharger sticking through the hood on a car with a transversely mounted engine!
-
@zaphod-s-heart-of-gold Even if he breaks down and has the new engine and trans installed I can’t see him getting $18000 from it. As an incomplete jigsaw puzzle he won’t get even close. Running and driving I could see asking $15,000 as long as he’d be willing to negotiate down depending on how good it looks in person.
-
@kiltedpadre I feel like he should probably just be trying to sell the engine/transmission combo, side pipes, and the shell separately. Seems way too much for an broken car when a complete organ transplant is still needed. And it's the wrong year for an expensive C3. '69 or die
(Ok, 68 would be good as well.)

Reminds me of that flick Corvette Summer with the fake think sticking out they made to make the car look custom and muscular.
-
@ibrad Yes... but still cool, just in a weirder way.
-
Well I was thinking about it, and I bet I have seen that at some point in my life. Probably in an issue of sport compact car in the 90s
-
@tripper Superchargers sticking out of the hood is exactly what the doctor ordered. I know that even if I end up with a classic I won't have the money to build a supercharged engine. But if I could? Definitely going to have that scott scoop or equivilant sticking out of the hood!
