I assume yours has headers or an aftermarket exhaust? The SS sounds really good--love the deep tone and burble off-throttle--but my M3 was something else, and revved so fast... Sounded like this:

@davesaddiction I can't see anything new coming that would compete with a NA V8 / mid-size chassis combo. Sure, a 300HP NA V6 or a 280HP Turbo 2.0 have more HP and Torque than 80's performance cars....but there's nothing visceral about it regardless what the spreadsheet says.

The M3 revs quick with no load but both rev up about the same when in gear and under load

Maybe your Vette has less sound deadening so you get to enjoy it a little more regularly? My M3 was just a lot louder, period, and I think the tone verges on supercar-ish. I'm sure my old neighbors hated me whenever I had to leave early. LOL

I agree, but rev-matching downshifts in the M3 was a dream. It's quite good in the SS, but you have to be a lot more forceful.

Yup, the Vette definitely has less sound deadening than the M3. My friends M3 is quite loud on the outside but very quite when you are in it which I do not like...
Ya the M3 motor has like no flywheel lol... I'm used to the Mini which need a big ol blip coz supercharger

Almost every passenger I ever had in that car said something like "It sounds awesome, when you do that" as I downshifted.

The modified x-pipe definitely got more sound in the cabin, but you're right - you get more induction noise in the cabin of the M3 than exhaust noise, especially with all the windows up, unless you really make it loud.

Loved windows down on the highway in the passing lane next to a concrete divider in that car... Would downshift for no reason just to hear it!
