I followed this one last year (or the one before that? who knows anymore) into a gas station and posted about it on Kinja, spotted again tonight.

Was my dream Jeep 30+ years ago. The want is still there, just not as strong.
-
@onlytwowheels Does a better photo help?
-
@just-jeepin Help me consider some very bad ideas? Yes.
EDIT: I'm pleased to see it now has all two wiper arms.
-
I like it, but not the way I did in the past. There are many more choices of capable vehicles, that are more comfortable. We all know with age the buggy ride will be more punishing. From previous CJs owned by friends the HVAC will not be enough to keep me comfortable in the winter either.
It still looks great though.
Edit:
I also don't believe the advertised fuel economy claims made in this advertisement.
-
@just-jeepin Whoa, is that a Nissan Murano Cross-Cabriolet? A masterpiece, just like the Ssangyong Rodius?
-
@onlytwowheels I assume a very different testing regimen than what we have today.
I meant to mention that, from a distance, I thought I heard a V8 rumble from it, but there were enough other cars (and I'm not terribly clueful on engine noises or identification) so I couldn't be sure.

Fuel economy numbers of the past were absolutely pure fiction. Based most likely on numbers achieved while coasting down a hill with a tail wind and over inflated tires. A V8 swap was very popular on CJs, so quite possible. One friend of mine, and 4x4 shop owner and serious off-roader, put a Chevrolet 4.3L Vortec V6 in his. He claimed the V8 was completely unnecessary overkill. I've always wanted to put a small Cummins 4BT diesel in one.

@onlytwowheels This one could have come with a factory 360 as well I believe
-
The V8 option for the Scrambler was the smaller 304. This would make it easy to swap in any AMC V8, including the 401 if someone was so inclined to go bigger.
