The FB RX7 is woefully underrepresented [review]
-
Until I had driven this car I had never driven a rotary before. As a first experience, a minty fresh FB GSL-SE is a pretty freaking great first impression! I try to stay objective but instead just end up gushing about this car. It makes great noises, goes pretty well, and feels like the car I always wished existed: an NA Coupe.
I'm actually shocked by how well this video is performing. I thought people were just here for Buick content since that car had Hoovies name on it. Guess not! Heck yeah!

@100percentjake As the owner of an '85 - yes, they are very good and very underrated. It doesn't help that the rx8 ruined the (shaky) reputation of the rotary reliability-wise. Mine leaks oil from one of the dowel o-rings (in the plans this year to fix that) and is otherwise turn-key-and-go.
-
@100percentjake I absolutely love the FB. It used to be my fav RX-7 hands down, but now it's neck and neck with the FC. Either way, love doritos.

@100percentjake I've been hoping for a Miata coupe ever since seeing the first one Mazda made as a show car. The first time I saw the RF was a silhouette teaser picture and I thought they were finally going to make one. Finding out it was a hard top convertible was disappointing!
First gen RX-7s are fun cars. The torque and power characteristics of the engine make it faster than it feels which is the opposite of what I normally like in a car but I still love them.

Honestly I would take a first gen over an FC or an FD. Enjoyed the video too!

Agreed! I've always liked the FB more than the later RX7 generations! That's why I did my tribute art to it a while ago!

@rallydarkstrike Is this available on a shirt?
(even though the fuel door is on the other side
)

@100percentjake I've never experienced driving an FB, but it's on my list. My only experience driving a rotary was when a boss of mine traded her Z31 300ZX for an FC convertible, white with a blue interior. Knowing that I was a car enthusiast she would frequently let me take her cars out to run errands or get lunch; she only let me take the XJS convertible out just one time, but that was quite an experience. I loved that RX7, but if I was going to buy one it would probably be a coupe. Like NC Miatas, FC RX7s don't get a whole lot of love, and probably why I'd like to snag one if possible.

@100percentjake Great cars. I had one very briefly (like, a matter of maybe two weeks), but I've long thought of picking up another one to hang on to. Seems like they are getting harder to find by the day.

...? Was the door on different sides in different markets, or was this picture reversed then? I was using it as a reference!
Better?
Yes, I have it as an item on my RedBubble shop!

@rallydarkstrike I think your source picture was mirrored at some point. Mine's LHD and the door is on the driver's side
- in fact with the "Rx-7" fender badge not present in the original I'm more confident they mirrored and edited the picture EDIT: and also blurred out the "unleaded gas only" sticker on the fuel door
Serious about the shirt, though.

@mm54 Oh sorry, just updated my post, haha! Yeah, guess it was mirrored! I fixed my art and just fixed it on my RedBubble shop linked in my previous post! Sorry about the mixup with the fuel door!
One caveat is the actual image has a black background on RedBubble. I can remove that, but I did it so that way if people put it on an item or shirt other than black, it doesn't lose the 'night effect'.
So there might be two slightly different 'blacks' on a black shirt...the shirt itself, and the black of the background behind the image! Not sure how OCD you are, but thought I'd mention it, haha!

@100percentjake Are FC convertibles common at all around where you are? I mean....RX7s aren't really common anyway (at least not around where I live), but ONE fellow from Florida who has a summer home here has a FC convertible he store here year-round....in a very cool shade of sortof pale, dark blue! Neat thing that has an awesome soundtrack....pretty sure he has an aftermarket exhaust on it!

@rallydarkstrike I don't think I've ever seen an FC vert
