Not the only one I've seen of the 132 built. Still great to see. For the uninformed, this is an AWD version of the Aussie V8 HSV coupe.

@Nauraushaun TIL these existed. What a cool setup, shame they were only offered with an auto.

@BeaterGT @Nauraushaun I’ve always wondered what it’d take to put together an AWD Cadillac or Camaro using the AWD units with a manual gearbox. Researched it multiple times out of damn that’d be so cool curiosity.

In theory, it actually wouldn’t be that difficult. It’s one of these kinds of BorgWarner transfer cases,
          5DE59848-7FC4-49CE-B2F6-E71A7D3457BC.jpeg
connected aft of the transmission. The ECU and traction control are only programmed for automatics because that’s what the factory offered.

Taking a “dumb” (as in locked 50/50 or 30/70 front/rear) version of that transfer case and putting it behind a manual should be quite easy. The mechanical version wouldn’t need ECU/TCU input to decide which axle to send power to. Using the rest of the AWD front axle and hubs would be a bolt-in affair. In theory, you wouldn’t even have to reprogram anything since it’d be purely mechanical.

My Camaro’s powertrain warranty lasts another few thousand miles though so I can’t commit to doing something silly like this at this time 😉

@GibbsEmphasis Only a few thousand you say? With your style of driving, this is clearly the next step in the Rallymaro build.

@GibbsEmphasis what IFS would you swap in, to apply power to the front wheels?

@pyroholtz The Cadillac AWD front suspension should be a direct fit, as far as I know. Platform sharing is a wonderful thing. Might lose a little steering angle but that’s what oversteer fixes.

@GibbsEmphasis space would be your biggest challenge, since the front drive parts are likely ‘off the shelf’ from GM from the AWD Caddies.

LOJ makes a kit as well:
                    https://www.lojkits.com/products/awd-tr6060-transfer-case-adapter

BMW’s own AWD/Xdrive is not far divided m, just neatly into the Getrag gearbox case design:
                    30447eae-6d49-460f-8513-7ba08b26403f-image.jpeg

I imagine there are factory viscous coupling options for drivability in full-time AWD mode, or even custom LSD/eLocker centers that could be acquired.

Given the Ford MT82 6spd for the Coyote/Ecoboost is not-so-secretly a licensed copy of the BMW E9x Getrag gearbox, perhaps someone could make an AWD (using XDrive bits) Mustang… hmm
