It's Friday, Oppo. Coincidentally, or perhaps serendipitously, it is also International Beer Day.
-
So, what are you up to this weekend, and what are you drinking?
I've got nothing planned, which is good, and for now, at least, I'll be drinking Carlsberg, since that's what I've got in my fridge.
-
@ttyymmnn No huge plans for the weekend. As for drink, probably will finish off my open bottle of Riesling and go from there.
-
International White Wine Day was yesterday. So hopefully you started then.
-
@ttyymmnn Having an energy drink because we have a late dinner tonight at a fancy place, at 8pm! Wifey and I... we are very AARP with our dinners, so this is way later than usual. Wife might do the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairing - I'll probably do a bourbon based cocktail.
We are celebrating selling the house. Tomorrow, we are hitting the property for the day to do some work, but won't spend the night.
Sunday, I might start working on the Tundra and do a super deep clean in preparation for listing it - if we can find a new one to buy.
-
Congrats! And it sounds like a nice night out.
-
@ttyymmnn I believe yesterday was IPA Day which both Mrs. Camaro and I dutifully observed. She's normally a stout or porter person but the law is the law. Also, it's too hot to really enjoy a heavy beer. Tonight will probably also feature an IPA. Either Deschutes or No-Li.
Edit: It was a Deschutes Fresh Squeezed.
-
Despite my best efforts, I just can't into IPA. I'm must more if a Pilsner guy.
-
@ttyymmnn I'm not a slave to the international order's demands!
-
-
@ttyymmnn I've always like things with a bitter or sour taste. I prefer the IPAs with a more citrus flavor over the more pine-like but I dig either. The only style I just can't seem to get onboard with is lagers. Which, of course, makes up the bulk of the biggest beer brands. Even craft lagers just don't do it for me.
-
Well, we can't let such a momentous day go unobserved, can we? It's a hot day, so I'm going to ice down one of these:
-
@ttyymmnn That's a Ford not an International

That's OK, it's Coors, not beer either.
-
@ttyymmnn I have some Michelob Ultra and Peroni in the beer fridge. Will crack a Peroni in honor of the international part.
-
@ttyymmnn I haven't had a drink in more than thirty years, but the one time I was the most sorely tempted was sitting beside Uncle Don's pool the day of Grandma's funeral. Uncle Chuck was there and Dave Roarty and Don had a case of ice-cold Yuengling in the pool house fridge. The day he told me that there were two Yuengling breweries and the one was much better than the other, owing to its water source. (He also immortalized for me, in reference to the town council, the phrase that if brains were dynamite, those guys couldn't blow their noses, but #nopolitics...)

@ttyymmnn I’ve been wrestling the yard back under control after 6 weeks traveling. So, time for a cold one! Going to a soccer game in a couple hours too, should be a great Friday.
-
@MUSASHI66 lol sounds like she gets the food and you get just bourbon
-
@ttyymmnn maybe try an English style ipa? Much less bitter than American style
-
@beefchips Not an option I’d turn down :). I’ll just skip the wine pairing as I prefer bourbon.
-
@ttyymmnn Took a spin down to the local brewery and grabbed a 4 pack of their IPA. There's a seafood festival in town so going to check that out at some point during the weekend.
-
@ttyymmnn I’m on call till 730am, so it’s ginger ale with cranberry juice.
Tomorrow we’re taking my niece to a downtown arts festival. I have every intention of getting a tasty beverage somewhere around the event. -
@ttyymmnn Perfect time for my favorite lumberjack to make his annual appearance!
I also bought a couple of large beer mugs, so what better way to try them out?
Cheers!
-
@ttyymmnn I finally caved in and bought a new film camera yesterday, with overnight shipping. We'll see if it'll arrive today or not. And now I half-doubting myself whether that camera is too complex to use.
Then on Sunday my wife and I will go to the heroes monument and museum in downtown. The last time we visited that place was way back in 2016. Hopefully I can try out my new camera there.

I made the jump to SLR (digital) photography a bit more than 10 years ago. I think I've gotten fairly decent at it, but I still learn something every time I squeeze the shutter. Good luck, but I'm sure you'll do fine, and learn as you go.
-
@ttyymmnn I hope over the time I could remember the steps taken before the camera is ready to shoot. One thing that I'm really worried about is that I forget to take off the dark slide before shooting.
