@Mr-Ontop they're just trying to emulate the old-school designs.

@AestheticsInMotion This is the kind of thing I think of when I see those stickers on cars that say "Built Not Bought." It's like yeah, no shit. No company in their right fucking mind would build that.

@Sovande I do that to the bikes I build....granted... they do start off a bit Janky until I get a couple of road tests done.

He's nicked a thumb and a middle finger before, but that was a table saw.....

@Mr-Ontop That's good to know, thank you. I do have one of those models at school, although it looks like the dates of the recall exclude the one I have. I definitely need to confirm that. Thanks for the heads-up!

@WasGTIthenGTOthenNOVAthenGTInowA4 I watched my dad cut the tip off his finger in a table saw. He was too cheap to buy lattice so he was making some. I also saw him get hit in the stomach with a giant chunk of plywood that was kicked back on the table saw. It basically ripped the corner off the sheet and shot into his stomach. It looked like a cartoon to me as it happened.

I've seen him nail through his hand twice. Not at the same time, though, he's not an idiot.

Oh, I got to see a sawstop in action a few weeks ago. The one that detects fingers? It basically broke itself to my understanding, but yeah... The guy was injury free. Very shake and up, but not even a hint of a cut on him.

I have a tendency to remove safety guards when they get in the way but that seems extreme.

I've had baseball bats I was shaping on a lathe come flying out, I've had more skill saws and grinders kick back on me than I can count. It's actually a wonder I'm alive at all!

@WasGTIthenGTOthenNOVAthenGTInowA4 I joined a startup cleaning company as an ops manager and this was my workshop! We replaced the saw... Eventually. Ironically enough, I'm almost positive that we replaced it with one of the faulty Dewalts mentioned above... Screenshot_20220805-144521_Photos.jpg

I was reading an internet discussion about a couple of Saw-Stop's patents may be expiring in the next few years so the Bosch version that got cancelled could have an opportunity again.

I also saw him get hit in the stomach with a giant chunk of plywood that was kicked back on the table saw. It basically ripped the corner off the sheet and shot into his stomach. It looked like a cartoon to me as it happened.

Seems like track saws are all the rage now. Safer and easier than maneuvering a 4x8 sheet of plywood through a table saw? Maybe I should get one?

@VincentMalamute Track saws are really nice. The Festool plunge saw and track is what my dad has now that he doesn't have a full sized shop anymore. It's an really nice tool. Also kind of spendy. I have not used any other kind of track saw but I'd bet the bigger brands have it figured out.

The Festool plunge saw and track is what my dad has now that he doesn't have a full sized shop anymore. It's an really nice tool. Also kind of spendy. I have not used any other kind of track saw but I'd bet the bigger brands have it figured out.

I'm assuming the other brands will work just as well for cheaper. I've seen people with the Makita one on the internet.

                                                    ...meh...

@Mr-Ontop My Makita's fence is wedged in the open position with a wood shim and has been like that since I've owned it.

And you may ask yourself, "Where does that highway go to?"
