So much tinworm...
-
@rusty-vandura that's not even that bad.
-
@shop-teacher Ugh.
-
@shop-teacher it's bad for the west coast. But yeah, my truck has only slightly less

@Shop-Teacher My brother-in-law lives in Trinidad, California, up in northern Humboldt County. His house is about 400 yards from the Pacific Ocean. The lumber rack on his truck is dissolving.
-
That makes those aftermarket, extended cab Toyotas look elegant & graceful by comparison. The rust looks more like what I'd expect to see in the northeastern US/southeastern Canadastan, not PNW-style.

@rusty-vandura Yeah, I hear living by the ocean is pretty brutal on vehicles, much like living in the land of road salt.
-
@shop-teacher Maybe even worse in some respects.
-
@shop-teacher A couple of coats of paint would have fixed that.
-
@rusty-vandura A sawzall was required to get the also see-through rear bumper off. The trailer hitch didn't fight me too much though.

Maybe worse. It goes on all year. Chloride ions in the air all the time that attack steel. Washing off in this limestone well water just makes it worse.
Something chemistry something. Yard guys had to put aluminun "zincs" on the cradle tractor to slow the rust. They could just paint it but this was easier. -
