This is it. I've found the worst configurator option

For a mere $200 Nissan will put a shitty little piece of chromed plastic on your titan so you can brag about your backwards-ass state to your buddies who are equally dumb and pathetic. This is an actual official Nissan configurator item, not some dumb dealer thing.
Oh, and if you think that's bad, it gets worse. Throw in an extra $600 and they'll give you some matching mudflaps and carpets too

but this isn't a Virginia badge?
-
@EssExTee While that is horrible, surely the worst configurator option is selecting the automatic transmission on something like a BRZ/86 or Miata or something along those lines.
-
@EssExTee I'm assuming you've never seen one of these before?
It's really confusing because the Titan is built in Mississippi. For a while I assumed Texas because of these badges. I had it confused with Tundra...
-
@ForSweden At least Virginia isn't regularly in the national news as the place something terrible is occurring

You have no idea how proud they are of being from this ...place...
-
@EssExTee I mean, UVA football happens in Virginia
-
@flatisflat "Texas" isn't an identity yet somehow Texans manage to make it one.

I couldn't even tell you the last time I saw ANY Titan. They do not sell well.
-
@WasGTIthenGTOthenNOVAthenGTInowA4 I mean, I can forgive an older person with a bad knee for wanting a fun car but being unable to drive stick
-
@EssExTee True, every rule has it's exception.
-
@ForSweden point on the doll where Virginia hurt you.
-
@EssExTee This isn't excellent, at all. Calling the whole state backwards and all people in it dumb and pathetic because you disagree with their politics or whatever is not in the spirit of Oppo, especially when we have a bunch of users from that state.
-
@EssExTee you mean like California?
-
@EssExTee -- Both tastes and strong dealerships can be a regional or even local thing. In my area (which is big on pickups in general) the Titan sold well, and I see new ones too.
Even spotted an XD in the wild -- looks a lot like the others, but we were in a parking lot and I noticed that the idle sounded weird.

Most Texans I've ever met or worked with are perfectly good people. It's far too big a state to make a generalization, any more than saying every Californian wakes up to a granola enema before heading off to their movie set
But there is absolutely a certain pompousness in the Texas Attitude where people glom onto other people's short-term economic successes (esp. Houston, Dallas) or like to pretend that living on a quarter acre in the suburbs means they have a ranch. These people are in the minority, but it's definitely there, and it definitely explains the badging and branding and reputation. My uncle is one of them, originally from Philadelphia, but he moved to Houston in the 80s and it became his identity.
It also helps that the Republic of Texas was a real thing for a while, so they also get bragging rights for being their own country.
However, they're just open and loud about it. The other side of the coin is a place like NYC, which is 10x worse than Texas for pride -- they just don't say it out loud because they just assume we all know it
No badging required!
-
@EssExTee Is it actually plastic though? The company I worked at a long time ago made the Ford Harley Davidson edition badges and they were actually die cast and weighed quite a bit. These are going for over 200 each

Not if you soak it overnight with some chia seeds, oatmeal, and organic peaches!
/actually had this for breakfast

@ForSweden That's so accurate, I didn't even find it funny. Basically a documentary.
-
Shouldn't that be Tennessee Titan? the logo even fits... a downward flying fireball...

Deeper than that. The Titans are just the Oilers, so it's still Texas
But considering that Nissan NA is based on Nashville, why would they NOT do this?
-
Texans are incredibly proud to be Texans, it's a whole damn thing. I guarantee, the take rate on those badges is higher than any of us would like to believe.
But then you have Californians who move to Texas, who you will know are Californians because they will find some way to mention that they are from California, and then you end up with this novel cottage industry:
And as a native Californian, I honestly don't understand why this level of animosity is necessary. People from California (like me) hardly even think of Texas at all.
-
@EssExTee my Dadβs Ram is a Lone Star edition.
Itβs basically the same as a Big Horn but only sold in Texas. Where he was living when he bought it.
